I think if you read through the two main Tintin posts on the OF you'll see most people didn't buy the Tintin for investment. The vast majority got the watch for the story and because they truly love the watch. And if someone wants to discuss market value who cares? It's part of normal watch collecting conversations these days. Just look at the watch pundits on YouTube or on social media. Some people base their decisions on their ability to reclaim the funds they spent on the watch if they change their mind. That's part of collecting, I think. It's not like you can go and look at a discontinued watch over and over and over before purchase and even doing that doesn't guarantee how you'll feel about the watch after wearing it for months.

BTW, in today's social media and information in a heartbeat age, everything is hyped.

I also bought Tintin based on the story. And i think it is a 'cheaper' alternative to the Japan racing dial. It is the best of both worlds for me.

There is currently one for sale on a Dutch online marketplace with asking price €4750: http://link.marktplaats.nl/m1314529813 (I don’t know the seller though)

Also on a Dutch forum someone was speculating that there might be 1953 Omega Speedmaster TinTin’s produced as 1953 was the year when the TinTin episode ‘Destination Moon’ was first published. Somehow this makes sense to me.

    And finally, here’s mine :)

Came to post about the HQ Milton watch. Condition looks better than the last one they sold, but perhaps not perfect.

Thanks, however I didn’t mean a new TinTin but the speculation was actually that there might have been 1953 Speedmaster TinTin watches produced when it was introduced in 2013.

This could make sense also because the introduction date is exactly 60 years after ‘Destination Moon’ was first published.

I cant understand why OMEGA don't want to officially inform the public about the actual number of "tintin" watches produced!!!
Is this info a government top secret??? We all know that there are 2000 or less pieces of this reference produced.
So why they keep "feeding" the mystery behind that?

It's not a limited edition model, so why would they release the info?

And it's not Omega creating the mystery, a +1700 post thread on here does that.

I bought mine NIB from Kringkilly late last year. I'd been thinking of buying a Speedy for a while but I couldn't make myself afford a vintage, while at the same time I didn't want to buy a "regular" modern version. When I read about the Tintin, it seemed like the perfect fit for me - an affordable Speedy that wasn't just run-of-the-mill, but without the price tag of a LE and with a tie-in to a comic that I remembered reading as a kid in the '60s. Bitcoin was on its ridiculous upward climb at the time, and the one single BTC that I had bought for $100 several years ago was worth more than enough to cover the cost of a Tintin, so I cashed out a fraction of it and made one mine. If it turns out to have been a good investment in years to come, so much the better, but that was certainly not my motivation. (Whether it turns out to be a better investment than that Bitcoin is another question!)
