Yes I own one and love to wear it in rotation. It’s a very good looking Speedy with a splash of red on otherwise monotonous simple dial of a Moonwatch. It has also a bright black colour on the dial instead of greyish black on regular Moonwatch, that adds to its beauty IMHO.

RJ’s original article on TinTin pushed me to buy one at a great discount (20% on mrp) from an AD two years back. They were available in plenty till last year I believe.
I saw mine at the local AD and just loved it. I came home and did more research on it and found RJ’s article. The article pushed me into buying it as well. I went back and bought it right away. That was May 2014.

Looks like Omega or the dealers are still drip feeding them into the market.

Hi Tintin owners - I have got to the point in gathering these movement numbers where it would now be beneficial if you could PM me the full serial number aside of posting publicly with the last two or three digits crossed out.

FYI (and for what it's worth) the lowest and highest movement numbers gathered are: 77 727 11x - 77 815 01x. total collected to date is 127 numbers.

I am staying with 1400 - 1700 after a number of destroyed dials (possibly 300??)

👍

btw, I am liking the moniker "Destination Moon" for this watch, but somehow I suspect it will be hard to make the shift from Tintin 😗

Destination Moon is the reason and inspiration for this watch. Herge’s death date has no bearing in the numbers made. It’s all based on Destination Moon. TinTin was not to be the name of the watch. Remember serials included the professional there were to be 1953, possibly 1954 made depending on Destination Moon publishing year. This is a fact. The issue is many dials had the rocket and are gone. Then some dials were saved for service. The true number released is very close to 1500 but it’s short of 1500. 1490 is the best guess I have been told. Lastly word has spread as serious collectors are putting the Destination Moon high on their priority. I worked in the music industry with many watch collectors and 2 watches I keep hearing about is TinTin and Short Hands Rolex Explorer. It’s anecdotal but I know a “well known” collector who has an extra NOS TinTin stashed away.....Why? His plan is to trade the extra TinTin eventually for a Silver Snoopy and he is confident their value will be the same. Totally anecdotal but the buzz is there.

But hey, at least we can say “I bought a Tintin before they were trendy.” 😀

Yup, I am estimating 1500 (+/- 5-7%) - some GTP stats with some minimal raw data did finally come in handy.

Just got mine from a fellow member of the OF, in LNIB condition with stickers.

My current collection of keepers:
2 x 16710 (Pepsi and Coke)
Kermit 16610LV
Tudor BBN 79220N
Gemini IV 3565.80
Hesalite Sandwich 3572.50

It would be a great addition to the collection!

It would be a great addition to your collection. Those two Speedys you have are great. I love the 40th anniversary Gemini IV. I'm a sucker for a reverse panda dial and blue! I've been thinking about maybe one day getting a 3572.50 for a while now too.

Who knows. The couple that are $5393 from Japan were $3800 3 days ago.
Like I said very unscientific.
Somebody just bought one for $6245
