Speedy Tintin information gathering

I will say that having another look at the Snoopy strap on the Speedy Tuesday isn't that bad.

Anyway, not sure this is the place for this post and not sure it'll ever become collectible, but I think that yellow or red dial Schumacher Speedmaster is a pretty cool "racing" watch if you will. Prices are relatively cheap (not sure what MSRP was). I think it'd look quite nice with an Autodromo Stradale strap. I also like the size being a reduced Speedmaster.

I was digging around this morning through the Omega Watches Website as you do, & came across an updated product spec sheet of our beloved Tintin which if I recall was officially described as a 'Red & White' Racing , appears to have been removed and denigrated to the description as a generic SPEEDMASTERMOONWATCH PROFESSIONAL CHRONOGRAPH 42 MM : Steel on steel.

https://www.omegawatches.com/media/pdf/watches/product-sheet/en-gb/31130423001004-en-gb.pdf

Do I feel a conspiracy/cover up brewing or is something else happening??...

For the record my post wasn't cynical (not that you were referring to me). That's why I noted the collectors that I did.

We'll have to wait and see about next year. That sounds a bit much, but if I like the one I just ordered I hope you're right. I'll be honest and say that while I like the watch, I'm also speculating a bit here. My biggest concern is what strap to put on it. Haven't seen but maybe one good combination so far (apart from the Natos that Revolution used). Really looking forward to getting it next week as I think I'm going to really like it. I'm also glad I got in at a price that was lower than MSRP and lower than what most are going for of late (at least from what I've seen).

A racing strap reference FWIW, not brown though

Caseback text?
Bingo. I find it annoying the seller is using the TinTin Omega reference number for a watch that is not a TinTin.

I've been wondering if it could possibly be a trick of the lighting, processing, or camera settings? But the red in the dial photos is very clear.

Serial number: 77812085
Article ref: 31130423001004

Based on what I can see of the serial number, it appears to be correct. I do wonder if the back side photos have been made B&W for some reason. Would be worth asking them the question...

yeah either they were made B&W or the seller sells so many speedies that they reused the ad but changed the front pictures only - or they have a rare prototype! lol

Man I am still waiting for one as well. I just recently inquired to a guy in my local B&S facebook who sources from multiple places and he said there's a queue for a tin tin lol.

Just picked up 77807765 new old stock.

Very impressed, it looks so much better in hand.

Yes indeed it has a personality of its own. The dial is darker black than normal Speedy. The hand painted white and red checkered circumference is not very immaculately done. You can see either colour spreading into other鈥檚 territory. The recessed subdials are very shiny.

I read somewhere that these dials were quite expensive to produce and therefore they took out this edition as racing Speedmaster to recover the costs. Many dials were destroyed while making and Omega took out this version with whatever dials were with them. Anyway it has many elements of a future classic Speedy IMHO.

I'm a vintage guy so this is my first modern Speedy. I agree the dial is pretty impressive up close. The black matte dial really pops against the glossy minute track, and it looks hand painted. There are a few imperfections under a x10 loupe but I kinda like that.

Not a fan of the bracelet and a nice strap transforms it. I agree it's one to watch, and if anyone is on the fence i'd say get one if you can.

Probably used stock photos for the case back.

If so, it was a stock photo of a TinTin since that's the photo I got the serial number from. 馃槈

So is that s/n one that has already been posted here as a definite Tintin, or is it simply within the range that has been established?

Neither - I looked up that specific serial number directly. I don't put faith in commonly referenced serial number "ranges" that collectors on forums use. It's in my previous post, but here it is again for you...

Wait, you can look up specific serial numbers on Speedies that are less than 20 years old!? Could whatever resource you use be adapted to reveal exactly how many TinTins have been produced (e.g. look up all serials in a range and sort by reference)?

I'm kidding... sort of. 馃槈
