Less than 2000... 1953 was the number I heard. But dials were destroyed that had the rocket. There is around 1500 in circulation. The next Silver Snoopy is the TinTin-collectors are starting to hoard these.

Makes sense to me. You feel your source for that number is pretty sound?

No one that knows how many rocket dials were destroyed are talking, it’s a guess but 1500 is the prevailing thought, leaving Omega with service dials as part of the equation.

Is there an easy way to find out what year a specific TinTin was manufactured in? My son was born in 2013....and I'm "hoping" my TinTin is a 2013 and not a 2014.

Thanks for any help from the team!

P.S. - On a total different subject....found this watch on Amazon.

I can't believe the Studio Herge (or whatever is the name of the company that manages the Tintin TM) have refused to bag in, say, $300 in licensing fees for 1500 watchs, ie half a million bucks based on sales of a prestigious product with ZERO cost to them, but are now willing to release to market this plastic-fantastic chinese-made quartz piece for $100 whose mess they're handling in-house (purchasing, distribution, whatever).

This makes no business sense to me...

Does Omega issue extracts for the most recent models?

No - only from watches produced before the year 2000.

Is that a rolling cutoff? Twenty years from now, today’s watches will be vintage.

Then Moulinsart (which is the name of the village where Capitaine Haddock's castle is, purchased with the money generated from selling the plans of Professeur Tournesol's mini-submarine used in Le Tresor de Rackham le Rouge, after they busted the Loiseau bros... see, I know my Tintin stuff ;) ) is just plain business-dumb... I've always heard they were extremely protective, but I thought at least they'd be smarter than that.

Actually I went to a Tintin expo last year, and I was taking some innocent pics when some security guy came in and asked me to stop. Just to PO them, here are the pics :D

Haven't seen it "roll" any in the last few years. As to what Omega will do in 20 years...sorry my crystal ball is out for calibration...

It’s a spot on article. It’s a great story. This time next year I can see these in the $10k mark. I received mine as a gift from an Omega friend and will never sell it. It’s such a unique piece with a great legend behind it and it’s been fascinating watching it flop around for several years and now it’s booming. Instagram has been lighting up with the TinTin. Fun to watch!

If the strap is 20mm and of decent quality might be worth using it on the Omega...! and then take a hammer to the rest...

Just curious...do you happen to know what the rationale is for only watches pre-2000s?

Just for s&g's I called literally every licensed Omega dealer within 1000km of my location (slow day at work) and none had a tintin in their case, backstock, anywhere...i'm sure there may be a few stragglers out there if you have connections, otherwise pre-owned or foreign market seems best bet.
