is the consensus here that the Tin Tin looks best on the included bracelet, or, does it look better on a coordinated black leather strap with some details?

Think the checkerboard dial is a bit Gallic in spirit. Although I don't like bracelets to me it suits the watch better.

Good morning! IMHO, I feel the Tintin looks best on a leather strap. More specifically, a vintage-style all black leather ‘rally’ strap. It is a ‘Racing’ Reference after all. After months of research I finally ordered what I believe to be the ultimate custom strap. I should have it in a week or so. Photos to follow.

I have kept mine on the bracelet. I have a few straps for it, but every time I go to remove the bracelet I end up deciding to keep it on.

Sorry for the older photo but the TT is in the vault. I tend to have it on a Vecchio Times rally strap (or is it a racing strap?) when it's out and about.

It's Friday...Speedy Tuesday, Pedantic Friday.
It's the Tintin really though not the racing, right?
The Japan Racing, that's the Racing! Or do I have too much time on my hands?

A good point you raise. Omega, for obvious reasons, does not refer to this dial as a TinTin, but refer to it as a racing dial. Of course the history of the Speedmaster predates the space program and has its genesis in car racing.

Or...or...are we kowtowing to the current owners of the Tintin's marque by putting the watch on a rally strap? Is a braceleted Tintin a real Tintin? (You're absolutely right about all Speedies being 'racing'watches btw, I was forgetting that!)

now I have to get it out of the vault and get that strap off. Did TinTin ever drive a race car?

Or...create my own reality

So is the Tintin supposed to be rare? If not, will it suddenly become the next Japanese racing dial with the orange and gray?

I don’t know about its rarity, but I’d been wanting a Speedy for a while, and I’m starting to like watches that are a little different in some way, so the oddball story behind the genesis of the Tintin appealed to me. I decided to grab one, though I still want - and will someday have - a vintage moonwatch.

I put it on a Martini Racing NATO last night, and I think it’s a keeper.

Thanks! It’s a cheapie that I picked up as a proof of concept; I’m now searching for a better quality version that won’t break the bank.

Beautiful collection!

Thanks!

Doubt it is. Have seen countless pieces available in shops across japan. Each of the BIC camera outlets I checked out in Tokyo had at least 4 on hand (just last month).

Hi All:

I have a very small wrist for a guy: 6"

So, often, if I want an interesting strap, or a strap with atypical details, or particularly nice leather, I'd have to go the custom strap route.

I just received my Omega Tin Tin and I'm struggling to think of what custom strap I can get that would make this watch look great.

Sure, I can go the expected route of a black Rally-styled strap with red stitching, but, that seems to be so very expected.

I'm thinking that as i'm going to have this custom made, i can do more with this and make it a bit more customized and synergistic with this watch.

Yet, i'm stumped.

i don't want a red strap - that would be a bit much!

already thought about the black Rally strap with red stitching - that would be just so expected.

may i ask if the good folks here have any good ideas, suggestions please? i would be most grateful to see what ideas y'all have and try to come up with a really nice custom strap.

thank you in advance.

For me, this thing only works with either the bracelet or black/red leather. I see alot of brown straps on this and it’s just not right. Plain black works best.

FYI, just saw a Tintin in person at Omega Boutique located in South Coast Plaza mall in Costa Mesa, CA. Supposedly, the boutique found it from outside the country for a client and brought it, but client ended up buying an used one somewhere else. Of course they were charging retail price of $4650.
