Speedy Tintin information gathering

I’m guessing from these TinTin’s popping up that ‘sold out’ and ‘out of stock’ means something different when it comes to Omega Watches
I also guess so. You’re right dear. I don’t know if Omega has done something similar in past or not. Esteemed seniors here would throw some light on this issue. It would be very informative and interesting to read more about these not too honest practices. CK2998 also popped up at OB here that were declared sold out. Oris Carl Braesher LE bronze watch that was sold out last year has also reappeared at AD so perhaps it’s not only Omega that does this. Just my 2 cents....

I don't understand how everyone is jumping into conclusions towards dishonest practices. I believe that Omega has retrieved back stocks from some asian countries' distributors and now shipping them out to ADs and OBs that have previously ran out of stock.

Found myself in Tokyo for the week; figured I might as well pick up a Speedy Tintin. Great price for a Speedy. Serial No. 7780XXXX They won't be running out of these soon. But haven't seen any on display. Odd. Came in the large wooden box.
In your last picture the 93120 California compliance sticker was it on the bottom of the outer box or inner box? That was from a watch purchased in Japan?

Does anybody know if knowing the serial range tells us anything? If serials are giving by production batches, it could be that a batch of Planet Oceans or Seamasters are also in the range right?

How much was it, do you know?

I do know, but I don't think that's my place to say... other than it was within the range that I typically see these sold for in the secondary market.

I checked with OB Manchester. No stock at the factory so they said they can't get one.

Fair enough. But perhaps the fellow OF member would be nice enough to volunteer the info. 😀

Hello all, new to the forum here. I noticed lots of discussion about how the supply within the OB has dried up for the tintin, but snapped this photo at the OB in Collins St Melbourne just a few weeks ago. It's actually abit of a story as I have been popping in for the last 9 months asking about the tintin and each time the answer was no, none available. On my trip back from Japan, I received a message from the store saying they have sourced the tintin speedy and would I be keen to come in for a look. I did and to my surprise they have not only 1 but 2 tintin' forsale. If you are interested these can be picked up maybe sent to another OB?
I forgot to add... sadly no I did not purchase it as whilst in Japan like so many other forum members bought the 'aka' tintin, I purchased mine in Ginza from an AD because I had been repeatedly told the supply has dried up.
The serial number is 77809xxx.
This now gets interesting as I contacted Omega through official channels to be advised yes the serial number matches the model but they would not tell me the date of manufacture as the model was discontinued. So with this I called in an old favor from a contact in Bienne whom was more helpful and was advised the manufacturing date was November, 2016.
This begs the question although the model was finished well before that, Omega was still putting watches together and distriputing them across the supply chain. I suspect these are the last batch of racing dials that got put aside due to the priority given to other models like the trilogy release, speedy tuesday and so forth.
I count myself as a very privileged owner of two of the best professional racing watches Omega has to offer. The 'aka' tintin sits proudly next to its cousin the LE Japon in my collection.

Now this is a surprising post. Which Costco and how much was it?
Paid $3,599+tax at a Costco in SF Bay Area, it was the only one they had. I told my father about it and he went to another Costco about 50 miles away and he found one there also, they also just had one. So there are some Costco's that have them but apparently they are only getting one per store.

I haven't been keeping up with developments; is Costco an AD these days, or are they still selling gray market Omegas?

I believe they are just selling gray market Omegas, not an AD.

Thanks for the input on the manufacturing dates. Saw another one for sale (on display this time around) when I was in Osaka. I guess these won't run out for a while...

Finally got home from holiday. Getting some macro action with this piece. That hand-painted dial is stunning up close...
