The things some watch buyers do...I wonder if that Gemini IV owner ever wishes he had bought that dial 😁

I too wonder! It’s such a beautiful and unique dial!
I’ll be keeping my original Tintin and saving it for special occasions.
Will be placing this dial on a 3570.50 for daily use.
I’m very excited!

If the new owner sends the frankenwatch to Omega for a service, they might be willing to put the tin tin dial back on and keep the gemini dial...

And, I'm guessing right about now you've already had about 10 offers to buy the dial. We're opportunists, what can i say? 😁

I was tempted to PM and offer a trade for my White Italian Dial (they're selling for $875 new, but mine was used once before I found a Mitsukoshi dial). I'm not sure I would ever convert my watch from a Mitsukoshi mod to the Tin Tin though, and one of my modern Speedy's needs to stay with the stock black dial as I don't want to mod both.

Haha! I've had 3 inquiries, but I'm never selling.
I actually have a White Italian dial and matching handset as well that I've never had the chance to mount yet.
As it is, I've got the following:
- Hesalite Sandwich (3572.50)
- Original Gemini IV
- Original Tintin
- Original moonwatch (3570.50)
- Moonphase (3576.50)

Changing the 3570.50 to a Tintin will be a daily driver!

Crazy! How much are legit Tintins going for these days? It feels like the hype has faded, no?

I believe production has now ceased for the Speedmaster "Tintin"

1. Do we have production dates/years for the Speedy Tintin?
2. Any guesstimates at production number - 400 was a figure I read in a forum post, but unconfirmed.
2. Can anyone add any Serial numbers outside of the 77.764.8xx - 77.797.9xx range

Cheers

Anyone posted a serial number starting with 77.8xx.xxx or higher yet?

Have I just not been paying attention, but “builds” seem to be popping up a lot. Tintin builds, seen a couple Gemini IV builds and others.

Interesting. I've only seen one Tintin build so far. Where have you been seeing them?

Tambowatches0 on eBay and Lewis Watch Co had one that sold on eBay. Tambo has an assortment of builds

This watch is incredible. I had mounted the Tintin dial onto a regular moonwatch.
If the plan to modify a current Tintin dial and add a rocket to it is still a go, I am on board.

I am sure that has been the only one - certainly the only one I know of.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a Tintin mod currently for sale on OF and another (different sellers) on WUS. Although these are dial mods as opposed to full replication (ie excluding the red lettered case back) - would these class as a Tintin build as defined here?

No. I would not accept as Tintin watch that have modified Tintin dial. I’d like to read others’ opinion as well.

Yes, I would agree with @Pun. To me these mods would be classed as a non factory build (or part builds) just as the Watchco SM300 was a non factory build and should be assessed in that light. That's not to say that such a build is without value because it obviously has, even Watchco SM300 builds have gone up in price; nor should they be written off, far from it. However, and it should go without saying, that a full disclosure is necessary so that any prospective buyer is aware of what is offered. Further, a Watchco SM300 is just that, a Watchco SM300 and not a vintage SM300 even though it is all Omega. Some subtle and also some not so subtle differences. So for me, a "Tintin" these days needs papers to accompany the watch given the current asking (and selling) prices just as I would expect of a Mitsokushi.
