Speedy Tintin information gathering

This matter of aesthetics and what might have been had the deal with Moulinsart not fallen through is interesting. Let's gather some information! We have a reasonable idea of what the rocket dial would probably have looked like. With all credit to @omegadave who created the image below, here's what we could have had...

So, just how much of a misstep was the watch that was actually released? Might Omega have dodged a bullet, aesthetically speaking? Let's do a survey. The question is, if the Tintin had been released with the rocket dial, would that have been (a) more, or (b) less appealing to you? And to make things a bit more interesting, are you (a) a current owner, (b) a former owner, or (c) an interested onlooker?

I'll start: Current owner, less appealing with the rocket.

Current owner, and I wouldn’t be one if it had a rocket.

Current owner, less appealing with a rocket dial, but more appealing with no rocket dial and some caseback work similar to Silver Snoopy but (obviously) honoring Tintin and Destination Moon.

But I’m also a big Tintin fan.

Great responses. It would be interesting to get a broader sample. But with 6/7 so far indicating a preference for the existing, non-rocket dial, it's possible that Omega might have unintentionally stumbled upon a more popular design for the Tintin than they originally intended! Let's see if more folks chime in over the weekend.

Same here!! On the other hand, this design is probably not the best one could have come up with. Rocket landing vertically in seconds sub dial at 9 could have been cool as well.

The rocket would have killed it for me. I bought the watch because I liked the looks; the Tintin tie-in was not a factor.

Hmm, I don’t know. I’m on the fence. I’d need to see it before I’d say no.

Another question may be—what if this snafu happened with Charles Schultz’ estate and snoopy didn’t make it on the dial? Would most people respond the same way as this poll—‘no way would I want snoopy on my dial...’

If there weren’t a NASA-related award associated with Snoopy and you were just making a watch with a snoopy on it because he occasionally played astronaut, then yeah, no thanks. Snoopy sucks.

Snoopy far from sucks. He is mad cool for a cartoon or pop culture character. That dog was badass and every kid growing up in the USA in the 60s, 70s, and 80s loved him.

Though I'd rather have a Silver Snoopy Speedy than a Todd Snyder Peanuts Timex...

Peanuts and Snoopy don’t and never have done anything for me. Now the Snoopy Speedmaster would at the old price. Give me South Park characters anytime.

Haha... let’s get Randy Marsh on a speedy dial.
