I visited a local Omega dealer today and they had a used TinTin. Sticker $11,000. They said it was bought online because they wanted a “Showpiece” for the store. They claim it’s been a nonstop conversation piece and have had many offers in the last 24 hours on it. The price was firm. Very interesting.

Where (and who) is this local dealer located? I'll sell them another "show piece" if they want it.

Price aside, It’s nice that basically everyone recognizes what a neat and unique watch the tintin is. From unappreciated ugly duckling to intensely sought after.

Nice. I think you would sell yours if you get an extract from the archives for yours. I know I looked at buying it before I bought my pair. I have $9400 average in my pair. I will be reading one for a Daytona this year. Most of us want authenticity and paperwork. Get the extract and I think yours will sell.

AD, and not an OB? Please clarify.

It was in a hotel I was at for a conference. Definitely not a boutique as they had Breitling and a few other brands and actually a big section of used Rolex. I’ve never been there before. I’ll be back next Wednesday and will take a pic.

I never got the ugly duckling vibe as I had a friend who had one and I saw it in person early on. It’s an amazing looking watch. I blame poor photographers for it having any ugly thoughts ever attached to it.

Also did anyone notice DavidSW just had a used TinTin and it sold in less than 24 hours for $8k. This watch can’t be held back at this point.

You can't order extracts for watches produced after year 2000.

Interesting. I know someone that received one for a more recent watch. I didn’t ask follow up questions as I just assumed it was a service? So how does Father get paperwork to assist his salability? For collectibles paperwork is a must. Surely there is other options?

Perhaps it's a service paper. For extracts it's not possible. Many have tried. This is one of the replies I got:
"The OMEGA Archive link makes it possible for all owners of OMEGA watches made before 2000 to place an order online for an Extract of the Archives relevant to their watch."

My mistake. Thank you. Yes they received theirs during a service. That is a bummer for those in need of paperwork.

What does everyone think a NOS TinTin will sell for today vs one year from now?

I think NOS is easily a $10,000 watch right now. This time next year??? I can’t even guess. Is $15,000 around the corner?

He posted the actual price it sold for, and not just the asking price?

No idea it was $8200+ with PayPal. It sold within a day. I assume he got his asking price since it was gone so quickly I was interested at that price though it was a used piece.

I was thinking of trading mine to a used dealer for a JLC tribute to deep sea. I was offered $7k, seemed a bit low. Crazy how all over the place the prices seem to be. Not too keen to trade or sell since I genuinely like the watch, but if the deal was right I might have done it.

I think $7,000 is low considering what is happening with the collectibility and desire with these. I do think the prices are stable and moving up. $7000 trade in gives a dealer $2000 in profits or 30%. Seems typical for a dealer. I think you made a wise choice to keep it. If it’s NOS I think $10,000 is now here. Sell your own watches don’t trade in. Just my opinion.

Contemplating taking the Tintin the service route. It is a 2016 and we have 4 years on the books.
Omega service, 2 year warranty and freshly serviced watch with service papers. What do ya all think of this.

Long term I think it’s wise. I wouldn’t be surprised if someday soon someone posts a $12,000 TinTin and it sells. So yes I think trying to get less for one isn’t wise pair it with the papers and get full value for it.

Just wear it. Collectible cars and watches still need to be used daily.

The $2,000 i snot 'profit'. Profit is what is left after all of the overhead costs, such as salaries, insurance, rent, utilities, etc. Even the online resellers have overhead costs, although a bit less than the brick and mortar shops.
