Hey all!
Wanted to pick your collective brains on a purchase.

I'm looking to buy a tin tin, it's been eating at me since not buying one last year at Costco for $3,600. This would be my first major watch purchase and after reading and reading and reading, I personally put the watch value at about $6K. Here's my dilemma: after speaking with a couple ADs my options are $6k for a used one watch only with AD COA and 2 year AD warranty or $7K for a full set with 4 year remaining Omega warranty. I would prefer the full set but my comfort level is $6K I trust both dealers are offering a legit watch I just don't know if box and papers is worth 1/6 of the price and if I'm paying right price at $7K or getting an unbeatable bargain at $6k.

Your thoughts feedback expertise is valued, thanks!

Are you going to wear it or store it in a safe for a rainy day?

Thanks @teojjsg
@The Father I plan to wear it regularly but not daily. 25- 50% Wrist time.
Regular use, the 4-year warranty might provide a little extra value to you. If you were planning to keep it in the safe for 10 years before reselling, the $1k premium on the warranty/extras might not seem so useful. A replacement box and manual can be had for ~$100.

I'd personally plunk down the extra coin for all of the extras. When you finally get around to reselling, it'll be worth that much more.

Assuming it's an Omega AD then their certificate of authenticity should suffice. You may want to ask for the serial number or sneak a peek at it and then get with @blubarb to see if it's in the range of what we already have just to be on the safe and comfy side. Plus, he can use it for his records. An Omega AD might be able to tell you when the watch was produced too though I'm not 100% sure of this. So, that could give you a sense of how long ago the watch was originally purchased. There is value in 4 years worth of warranty too though and having the original box and cards (more so the cards than the box).

What about the condition of both watches? Are they equal? That needs to be taken into consideration as well. The AD may be able to put the watches on a timegrapher and give you each movement's average rate, deviation, and amplitude to let you know how they run. That can give you some peace of mind. Also, make sure the bracelets come with all links (another consideration)

Those additional items may help you decide if the extra $1000 is worth it. But I think those prices are very fair. Check this link for the market value on the forums, https://www.watchrecon.com/?query=311.30.42.30.01.004&last_days=0, and scroll up a page or two for the value on Chrono24 (mostly dealers).

Pulled the triger on the one with box and papers. Just in time too because it looks like the watch only options sold out.
Need a couple links for it to fit - can’t wait to wear it.
Thanks again everyone for the advice!

Good move on acquiring the tintin.
You say you need a couple links. Big wrist or missing a couple links?

Thank you! Combo of both I have a big wrist but watch didn’t come with any extra links - I believe you usually get one or two- Did not count # on bracelet, how many should it have?

Brand new it wouldn't come with extra links but a bracelet with all links included should fit an 8" wrist. If it is smaller than that then the removed links weren't kept with the watch.

Un-sized bracelet will have 4 links with screw heads on either side of the clasp. That includes the links attaching to the clasp.

If it’s a pin and sleeve version it’s 5 links on either side.

People with "rare" Beanie Babies were convinced they were sitting on a gold mine too.
