I appreciate all the replies. I went back to my Rolex AD and had my Batman Sized. The TinTin was gone. The owner is a fan of the watch and is keeping it. I think all involved got a good deal. It’s a fun hobby to be a part of. Batman is now discontinued as well. It was an exciting transaction.

However I’ll be adding back a TinTin. I’ve had an email since my post with someone offering me theirs at $11,500!!!!

I’m broke as of this moment but sometime in February I’ll be a buyer for a NOS unworn TinTin. Till then a FOIS will pick up the slack.
That just makes me angry for some reason.

That’s how demand and supply works man!

Collectors will keep this watch and they will only consider selling it if they ever decide it with a price that won’t make them regret it... so 10k+ is not crazy (mAybe not for a short term transaction but a year from now I find it possible)

Just my 2 cents 😀

Here’s a lesson in what not to do with an Omega Speedmaster TinTin. My mistake a week back.

I get a call from a Rolex dealer that is around 3 hours away. I put in my name years back for a BLNR Batman on a work trip and forgot. To my surprise I get the call and I’m short on cash.

I offer my used Speedmaster TinTin in trade. Jokingly mind you. Not expecting the response. $8000 if I have the box and papers. I did have the box and papers.

I drive out there thinking this must be a mistake. No way is this watch already $8000. Well... A few hours later I own a Rolex BLNR Batman that cost me around $2k and a TinTin.

I drive home like I robbed a bank.

I then get home, find this thread and all the Omega TinTin articles and I’m full of regret.

Then about a week later rumor has it that the Batman is now discontinued so I’m even more conflicted. I don’t want to undo my trade but damn I regret letting go of the TinTin. I truly don’t want to wait when these are $15-$16,000 or more and I realize I can’t wait. I started selling a few things around the house on eBay and I’ve started looking at my lesser worn watches.

Here’s my issue, I just do not ever want to wear a previously worn watch. I need New Old Stock. I personally do not bond with previously worn watches. But it seems on the used market the TinTin is no longer possible NOS. I might not have an option but to buy a previously worn watch but again it has no appeal to me.

My hope is that I sell a few things and save up and get lucky and find an unworn TinTin. I might be dreaming but my dreams keep me working hard.

If you own a TinTin Cherish it. Something crazy is happening with this watch.

Nice to join and be a small part of this crazy subject and discussion. Cheers all!

I tracked down the AD, they sent me a picture of the transaction.

IS THIS THE WATCH YOU TRADED FOR?

I sent SpeedyTomorrow a link to a UK dealer selling 3 NOS TinTins for GBP 7250 each (converted to USD roughly $9100) Still very high, but not $11k high.

So I was going through my insurance documents and came across my watch policy. I saw that I have the TinTin insured for $3800 (what I paid for it in Aug '17).

Anyways, to increase the insurance policy...does anyone know the process? Do I need to get it appraised and send the new price docs to the insurance company for update?

I've never changed a policy on specific personal items....so just curious if anyone has been down this road and and knows the process.

Thank you for any insight....

This likely varies from company to company. Best thing to do is call your insurance broker and see what the company requires.

Absolutely.....that's my plan for Monday. I'm just curious if someone has done this in the past.

Easy done

Just ask them to change your policy so that it covers your items for full replacement value, and not the item’s current value.

They may suggest a rider policy attached to your policy for the watches and jewellery.

📖📖📖 Read everything 3 times like all insurance policies.

I understand and agree. NOS TinTin’s should be an under $10,000 watch. $11500 for a TinTin might be the future but it’s too pricey for now. Yes I understand unworn copies of this watch are more sought after and that there are very few left. I believe I’ll pick up and unworn copy for $10,000 or less sooner rather than later. Waiting till February to buy and if for some reason they are over $10,000 by then, well, I’ll adjust and pay the price. Not the end of the world.

Will not be >10,000$ till February don’t worry! You can still find 5 NOS in Chrono24 right now for less...

Prices are not what they seem to be, there is plenty on this Forum for sale (although no NOS) for a lot less than $10K. As a matter of fact, I don't exactly see them flying off the shelf either.

Nice to dream.....

Oh boy, 3 new listings for tintin watches on ebay this week (4 total). And two in the $6k range. For such a rare bird, there sure are a lot of them showing up for sale recently.

I am guessing it's because some owners are finding out the watch they bought for $2,800 can now be sold for $6,500... Get out while the gettin's good!

I'd love to see it as a $20,000 watch, but I think that's just speculation. The market seems to be maturing and settling in at around $6500-$7000 for used in good condition and $7500-$8000 for NOS. The NOS watches priced at $8000 are just sitting there. The one NOS watch on Chrono24 priced at $7400 now shows as "Reserved."
