Its driven by the price increases of the speedmasters.
Resale on used Omega watches seems like it is trending down. For example, the SM300 MC on the used market was a year/year an half was almost $4k. Now you can buy $3,500. Similar for GSOTM and many other modern Omegas. They seem to be ever so slightly declining in price. Vintage Seamasters seem to be increasing, but no were close to what the speedy is doing. Speedmasters (and a few others makes/brands) are simply out of control, at least on a percentage increase.
Everyone and their Mom is jumping on the speedy bandwagon. Much like the real estate market back in 2005/6/.

I have said it before but its worth repeating...
If you don't think the balance is right, don't sit around moaning, write some posts that say what you want to see.
Lead by example, don't just sit and criticise.
@UncleBuck I love reading your posts, but you have not started a single watch thread this year - which is a shame because I know you have great knowledge in areas I do not. So you are guilty of precisely what you are lamenting - failure of members to contribute interesting and varied threads.
How can you expect other forum members to write interesting watch posts if you yourself do not? All you are doing by this thread is encouraging others in precisely the direction you do not want the forum to go in.
And frankly who cares if there are lots of speedy posts - its a gateway drug right? Hook them in and next thing you know they will be sidling up to you going "Hey, know where I can get a 120?"

I agree with almost everything you write, but for the love of God keep people away from all the other Omegas! I have a hard time with the competition as it is! 馃榿

Great point....and I do have a couple recent buys I could talk about.
I'm on vacation with the Grandkids right now, but I promise a new thread when I get back!
It's very gratifying how positive everyone is, I expected death threats!

I think we should have many more Speedmaster threads.
Dials
Hands
Cases
Movements
Bracelets
Keep em coming
Nothing to see in the Omega dress watch market.
Move along now....
But do you know where I can get a 120? There seem to be so many fakes around...
Coincidentally, I might move this one on over the next couple of months. They are out there in fair condition but the prices seem to have been dragged up dramatically with the better known models. The worst issues are the bezel which is unobtainable and damaged dials/hands. Apart from that, just a 565 inside so no major problems.
They're a nice watch to wear being a lot thinner than an SM300 but I think I prefer my SM60. I seem to prefer blue dialled divers (this year anyway).馃槈 Shown with my wife's Bordeaux coloured SM60. If I ever get one in the same colour but in the men's model, they'll be a bit of the Howard and Hilda going on.馃榿 Sadly, I am on the lookout...
Cheers, Chris
