It's not my experience and an international warranty offered by the manufacturer is just that, otherwise why would they include an Omega warranty card when bought through a official AD.
Ashford and Jomoshop have their own warranties but that's a watch supplied outside of the AD chain and comes with their warranty which some have said is worthless.

I’m not saying there isn’t an international warranty...that fact is irrelevant to the point of who pays for repairs...

It's Omega's warranty, they will pay for the repairs as it's hardly the retailers fault that a watch has started to fail during the warranty period.
Using your logic how can this possibly be correct? if someone was unlucky enough to bring back a watch three or four times during the 5 year warranty period, are you seriously suggesting the retailer should cover the cost repairs of each time, they would be out of business in 6 months.

As I've said what you are suggesting just doesn't work. Let's take the international warranty, I buy the watch from a Uk based AD, I then leave the UK and go to work in the US for six months, the watch develops a problem and I ask Omega USA for support and present them with my Omega International warranty card, are you suggesting Omega USA would be looking to cross charge a UK dealer for the cost of a repair? I don't think so.

I'm just talking outa my @ss over here but is it possibly like some dealerships where the dealership flips the bill for the warranty repair and then gets reimbursed by the parent company after the job is done?

Al has made it quite clear who pays for warranty repairs, what you think or don't think is irrelevant.
I'm pretty sure everyone here knows by now that your sole purpose on the forum is to argue with Al, no matter how hard he tries to be helpful and informative.

My purpose here is to discuss watches and enjoy other contributions, but some contributions I don't agree with and don't trust, but you are free to accept bad\wrong advice as you please.

More fool you, but please don't come crying to me when it eventually leaks.😉

I swam many a time in the first few years of owning a Speedmaster, will again when it’s freshly serviced soon.

How’s this, when I get it back I will take a couple of photos of it in the fish tank for you with this one

Update: watchmaker called and said he adjusted the cannon pinion and I should be good to go. I’ll keep a close eye on it over the next week and we’ll see how it’s doing.

That's not how it works based on what Omega says, but in the end I don't really care if you believe it or not.

For what it's worth, I find this to be an odd arrangement as well. Why the AD or distributor should pay to fix factory generated defects is beyond me, but this is common practice in the watch industry.

What it does indicate is that being an AD is no cake walk. They get it from both sides, so customers beating them down on price every change they get, bringing watches back for the very smallest things and making out like you killed one of their family members, and then being made to pay for the fix by the company who made the watch and the defect.

Sweet deal...not. But I guess there's enough money in it for them to make it worth their while...

A bit off topic: my AD indicated that they make 40% margin on Omega watches which to my thinking is very healthy on a luxury goods item. That’s the retailer, not including the distributor margin in that. In other industries it is not unusual for the local distributor to have to pay for warranty work out of their margin, I work for a large distributor in the photo industry and we cover all warranty work including parts out of our margin, and we don’t make anywhere near 40%. So having the local distributor or AD cover warranty out of their profit seems somewhat reasonable to me. Don’t know how it would work if the watch was sent back to the factory for service though, how would they do the accounting on that!
