Speedy-durability! Not often you see those two words in the same sentence.
The Speedmaster was made for rich boys to time their sport cars in the late fifties. Then it qualified to be worn in a zero gravity, dry and basically a laboratory environment in a space craft. The moon is pretty dry too. So what do you think, is the "Lawnmaster" a durable watch? Have a look around OF and you will see that nearly 75% of the treads are people worrying about their Speedys in some way.
What you should do is get a Seamaster, never any problem with those watches, they are mostly used by miners, divers and people affected by spontaneous human combustion.
Also they are sexy as he..

Are you left handed?
Do any of us need our watches when we all have a phone in our pocket that tells precise time? No. But we have them anyways because we are all crazy and passionate about these outdated pieces of technology for various reasons 😁. If the OP wants a chronograph, buying a three hander to save on future service costs isn’t going to “scratch that itch.”
I really don't get Speedy's posts, and I think Speedy really doesn't get that for some people, it's the watch that matters.
With a watch on his left wrist, I’d say he’s right-handed. Of course, there are exceptions to this generalization.

And, back on topic, Speedmasters are very dependable everyday watches.
When we are talking about durability...
I don't see any problem to get $25-$50 Casio watch. In that price range you could get really nice tough watch. Just put your nice watch in a bag and wear Casio.
I think if they were tested a simple digital Casio in 1965 it would definitely were the winner. Shock resistant, magnetic resistant absolutely on different level.
If you want a mechanical I would definitely get smt cheaper and 3-hander, because with the chronograph you get that extra charge for any service in case of a damage. Do you really need that? to pay $800 well in advance, just read other recent thread here
I think Speedmaster is pretty the same as other mechanical watch in terms of durability. nothing special, except the price of the watch/service.

If he's right handed, then the watch isn't under any real stress from swinging a tennis racket. I suppose if he's playing doubles, his partner could accidentally hit his watch if they were to go after the same shot. Not likely though, I admit. And maybe wearing a Speedmaster on the dominant side playing tennis might not be too bad, I mean how hard can someone of Al's age swing a tennis racket? 😗
Rumor has it that Al is no slouch on the tennis court. And he’s swinging a tennis racquet (and probably a composite one) and not a sledge hammer.
