Speedy 44.25 vs 43mm case

Hey guys
So I’m looking for some advice from the seasoned omega collectors out there.
Basically I went into my AD today and asked about a watch I’ve been pining after for quite some time. (Not the new super racing) A speedmaster racing master chronometer 44.25mm black dial with orange hands.

Unfortunately they didn’t have it, I told him I’m not going to pull the trigger on a €8k watch unless I’m happy with the size (Biggest I’ve happily worn is a black bay gmt).

He let me try on a chronoscope which was not only a gorgeous piece but also in every dimension a perfect fit for my 17cm wrist. But…. It’s not the racing dial that I love.

The other watch he gave me to try was the planet ocean chrono (far too thick for me) he stated the racing would be somewhere between these two in terms of size.

My question to you all is has anyone got both a chronoscope and a 44.25 case speedmaster if so how do they compare size wise. Even better would be some pics to help me get closer to this purchase.

Thanks guys

My suggestion (provided for free so you know exactly what it’s worth) would be not to go about it this way. The physical measurement of the Speedmaster Racing may in fact be between the two watches you tried on, but… it’s a different watch. The bezel, case shape, and proportions are different. Like many of us, you want to know how it fits, but trying on two different models, even from the same brand may not give you the intel you want. Some watches just wear differently and you won’t know until you try it on. Great watch; hope you can find it and try it on.

I wouldn’t. 44 is too big. For anyone really, certainly on a 17cm wrist. The Speedmaster Pro wears relatively small given its size. But anything beyond that in my view is ridiculous.

The 44.25 racing is noticeably thicker than the Chronoscope. If I recall correctly, it is a difference of 3mm. It likely won't fit under a French cuff. Also if you have a rounder wrist, you may find the lugs "float" a bit as they don't taper down as much...

I’m hoping they get in the new super racing which seems to be the same basic dimensions. Maybe then I can finally commit or put this want to one side.
I’m surely not the only person who think these racing dials are unbelievably attractive watches. The next closest AD is three hours away but it might be worth a visit.
