Seamaster vs Speedmaster Chronoscope 43mm: Which to Buy?

What would you recommend buying, a Seamaster or an Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope Co-Axial Master Chronometer Chronograph 43MM?

I have received a very good price on a new Speedmaster but would have to pay full price for a Seamaster.

My dream has always been a Seamaster, but I have received a very good offer on a new Speedmaster.

How do you think the value of this Speedmaster will be in the future?

And can you shower and swim with a Speedmaster?

I'm confused why you have to pay full price for the Seamaster, either from an AD or C24 surely you can get a price offer below RRP?

Regarding swimming read this on WR Omega guarantees:

If you have dreamed of a Seamaster, I don't think that a Speedmaster is a plausible substitute. They are completely different watches. I would suggest that you keep saving or shopping around for a Seamaster.

FWIW I walked into the shop for a speedy that I had desired for many years and walked out with..

..wear it every day. Still happy.

an AD didn't have a seamaster in stock. but he had one of this speedmaster in stock. and I got it at a very good price. and this AD doesn't get new omega watches in stock.

if I buy a seamaster I get a maximum of 10% but on a speedmaster the time limit is much higher

is a seamaster a good investment for the future? or will this new one depreciate in value?

or will this speedmaster be a good investment if I get it for 60% of full price?

Neither are good investments, both will depreciate a ton. These aren't investments, they'll both do poorly when used. Current Gen used Seamasters are going for 3.5-4.5k right now, used Chronoscopes are going for only a hair over that.

Don't buy watches based on future value, buy them based on what is going to give you joy to wear. If you want an investment, use the stock market.

That speedmaster’s horrid. No wonder it’s being offer at a huge discount.

Merry Christmas.

If you’re concerned about which watch will best retain its value why not shop for a nearly new Seamaster or Speedmaster?

There are Speedmasters and there are Speedmasters......the one you are showing is one of he least attractive ones they make, imo. You are being swayed on price, one of the worst points to make a decision.

If you've always wanted a Seamaster pony up and pay the price and be happy.

Seamaster every time, if you enjoy being near water or in damp conditions. If you want to mow the lawn with your watch on there is no problem with a Seamaster.😀

Some heartfelt recommendations from people that know.........but it's your heart that matters! Don't buy a watch without the tingle inside.

If you are planning a lunar landing soon, go for the Speedmaster. If you might get wet, go for the Seamaster every time.

i will probably follow my dream and go for a seamaster.

You can find brand new grey market imports of the SMP 300M diver for an excellent price.

I managed to get my SMP 300M diver Summer Blue for well under retail price from an grey import retailer, which my friend recommended me.

Worst mistake you can ever make is to buy something you don’t like because it has a higher discount. You are still dropping a significant chunk of cash on something you won’t like and you very likely won’t get much of it back. As others have said, be patient, save a little more, and get what you want to start.

I can buy a new Seamaster for 5300€ from an online retailer (grey import). But if I buy it from an Omega store in my county , they will charge 6700€ for the same.

I don't know the AD situation near you, but my closest one is 85 miles away and in 2022, they gave me a discount on a green SMP and another this week on a Moonwatch. In both cases, the final price was significantly less than any grey market price. That was going in cold having never stepped foot in the store beforehand or talked to anyone there. An OB definitely won't do this and I imagine most ADs probably won't either, but maybe.

I have bought one Seamaster new from an OB, and probably never will again. Go for the discount. You will still get the warranty, just see what is printed on the card.

A lot of nearly unused Omegas sell at a good discount.
