    Hmmm...

    21,600/3600 = 6 Hz

    18,000/3600 = 5 Hz

Don't worry, I've been there...from either not enough coffee, too much beer, or both! :)

Are you a very fastidious assassin?

What do I use the "stop watch" for?

Is that what those buttons do? I use mine maybe once a year and then it's just to see if it's still working. For timing things I use what Jim Lovell used on Apollo 13: an iphone.

Thanks. I'll start looking that way for a future pick up.
On the subject of racehorses I used to break, train and exercise them. When you do a workout as opposed to just and ordinary gallop the time is important. Trainers ask for a certain time. I used to think I could improve on mental processes with my Timex chronograph. Well, it was easy enough to push that button on take off but pushing off at the wire didn't work out. You're a bit busy then and it's easy to forget. That was in the days before digital cell phones. Trainers watching works like to know right then and not need to ask the "clocker." So it was common then to see a wristwatch used.

That watch must be a tad old. Indy cars lapped faster than 175 nearly 50 years ago.

And so they did. Graham Hill in a Lotus / Pratt & Whitney managed 172mph in 1968. At those speeds hand timing should have been too inaccurate and those watches were museum pieces. So was the engine after USAC bowed to pressure.

Still, the watches would be nice to own.

I often use mine to mark the day of the month. I've found this quite useful. Does anyone else do this?

Also, I'm a trial attorney, so when in court the judge gives time limits for different things. For example 1 hour for jury selection, 30 minutes for closing argument. It's been very useful keeping track of how much time I have left in these situations.

That must have been the turbine. I guess USAC's minds were destroyed after Jim Clark and Lotus bitch slapped them while campaigning for and winning world championship F-1. That really did make a mockery of American oval racing. Clark was a boyhood hero of mine who died in a wreck.

I find that I use mine for all kinds of things, even rather trivial ones, just because it's so conveniently located on my wrist. Grilling? Got you covered. You say commercial breaks are getting longer? Let's find out. How long does it take me EXACTLY to get up the staircase? Case closed. Wife says she'll be back in a minute? We shall see.... :)

Would you say a black face is the most popular on the Speedmaster?
