Isn't it hard to dispute Mr. Protopapas? He is the Omega Museum Manager.
I agree 100% but unless Omega is on the record stating that all 145.012s within this serial number range were equipped with the orange hand I would understand it's significance but I couldn't find this information. If it is out there then I'll pull the foot out of my mouth. 😉

Cheers,

I'll have the chance to spend an afternoon at Omega with Fratellowatches and some other Speedmaster nerds next friday - obviously Ultraman is something I want to discuss in details with Mr. Protopapas, he owns one and so do I. 😀 Will share if I get to hear anything new... 👍

If he owns one, I'm guessing I know what his opinion will be.

It's a nice touch the orange hand and if I saw two identical Speedmasters together for the same price and one was with the orange hand ( and correct range ) I'd choose it. But that would be purely for the novelty factor, as I've had quite a few plain vanilla Speedmasters over the years.

Paying a premium of 100% for this orange hand strikes me as being a little bit over the top though, something like a chrono hand envy syndrome. Mind you what do I know, as that lollipop hand sold earlier on this week and that had an asking price of EUR 7K 😵‍💫

Hello all,

Like many, I read about the 145.012 " Ultraman" for sale on Hodinkee. Just playing devil's advocate here. If I have a 145.012 that falls in the serial number range, between 26.076.XXX and 26.079.XXX but has a white center chrono hand and I replace it with an orange one, the value of my watch goes up almost 100% so to speak?

Where is it documented that all watches within this serial number range are in fact "Ultraman"? I tried a search on Speedmaster 101.com with no results.

Thanks in advance for the insight.

Cheers,
