Yesterday I had the opportunity to see a Sedna Speedy, and despite my initial reaction at time of release was not particularly hot, I must say that now I’m impressed.
Case color is rich and modern, perfect contrast with the black dial.
It was on a leather strap so I can’t express myself about the bracelet. I guess it’s even cooler.

What are your thoughts about the Sedna speedy?
Between Sedna and Moonshine, what’s your pick?

It’s really hard to properly capture the Sedna gold color in images due to white balance shifting around but it’s a very rich tone in person for sure. I first got to handle it on the Constellation piepan in Sedna gold which was amazing in person.

The moonshine and green combo is pretty darn tough to beat. Highly suggest not seeing one of those in person unless you want to lust after it. I say this as somebody who doesn't even like gold.

Love that watch. Call me old school, but I love a gold color too. In big chunks, I really like the Sedna gold color. It's toned down versus yellow gold. I 'kinda sorta' have a watch combo for your consideration...

Great! What’s that integrated rubber strap? Looks perfect!

That's the Omega Rubber that was released with the Moonshine Panda, it's available for separate purchase at your OB or AD

I'm busting at the seams, gotta share this with my Omega friends...

Since the Sedna gold was brought up here, how much would you guess you'd have to pay for a brand-new Sedna gold CLASP? Yes, just the clasp.

$400.00? No. $800.00? No. $1,500.00? Nope, not even close. But if you guessed $4,480.00 you'd be spot on. Right on their site under Straps. Then you have your choice of deployment clasp. Pick the Sedna and that's your price. My clasp has never meant more to me! 👍

Thanks for this intel. Question is also: why? I mean what's the use case of buying such a clasp. Only thing that comes to mind is if you want to swap the full gold bracelet against a leather strap. But even then it's ridiculous.

I love deployant clasps, which have less risk when putting the watch on in the morning and taking it off at night, as well as making the leather strap last longer.

My Zenith A386 has a RG pinbuckle but not going to splurge on the OEM butterfly clasp at €2400 this time.

Yes I fully agree and also prefer deployants over pinbuckles anytime. I was just wondering how big the market anyways is for such 'special' deployant buckles, assuming that it can only be used with Sedna Speedies that were bought on the Sedna bracelet.

One of the rare occasions where I would even consider gold-plating a steel buckle. It's so ridiculously overpriced.

That’s about the price for full gold clasps from other haute horlogerie brands like Patek, ALS, and VC so not shocked about the price at all.

I bought an 18k AP and an 18kt ALS deployant buckle in the 2000 timeframe and they each cost about $1,600. At the time the industry was still using friction closures. With inflation that's about $2,800 today. But the buckles now use push buttons, springs, more parts overall, and watches are much more collected and high profile now so that boosts the price on the top brands. It is what it is. This is not a cheap hobby.

I remember when I bought my Sedna about a year ago I was trying to decide between the two and I thought the deployant was 2k.
IIRC the bracelet on its own was about 11k when I asked back then. I guess its probably more now :\

This watch really is a beauty - I've been lurking on the forum for a while unregistered but pulled the trigger on it in the last few days 😀

Makes a lovely addition to my steel 3861 Sapphire too - have my special occasion watch and everyday beater all sorted.

I was also completely sold by @PandaSPUR 's version on the rubber so got the boutique to throw that and the gold clasp in on the deal for free as I suspect that will be the way I wear it 90% of the time. Thanks for the inspiration!

What next....

Please share with us what are your thoughts on the Sedna vs the steel, and also did you have the chance to compare the Sedna with the Moonshine?

Of course, a pic of the new beauty with the rubber band is mandatory!

The Sedna has so much more heft to it - you definitely know you’re wearing it but reminds you there is something quite special on your wrist.

I did look at the moonshine gold / green dial as that was the one which initially attracted me but it is quite a ‘loud’ watch and didn’t suit my pale skin tone at all. The OB manager suggested Sedna gold would suit better and he was spot on.

The rubber strap and deployable clasp are still on order with Omega so no pics of that yet but overall very happy with the purchase!
