Slightly different. Although I could see a day/date name being applied to an MK 40
Okay cheers I guess I'll have a hunt at these, I read the horror story of the guy on eBay that kept replying to the seller about the dodgy button and being told to go to omega for a statement which makes me think it's wise to steer clear of the DD movements.
The budget has increased to 拢720-1250 ($950-1650) but obviously I'm still looking 馃榾

That's only on the reduced. The Dates/racings and the MK40 don't have those issues.

I have long been contemplating getting a 'big boy' watch. My budget is around $1.500 (this is not just because of money, but also for security reasons as i live in Brazil, and do not feel comfortable wearing a too expensive watch)

After much contemplating, I think I have setteled on a used Speedy Reduced. I don't see any other option that gives you as much bang for your buck. My only worry is that I have a 7.3 inch wrist, will I be able to pull of a 39mm watch??

You'll be fine with 39mm, even larger, depending on format/colors.
I agree with the other members that it would be nicer to ged a Speedy Pro instead of the Reduced.

I do know how things are in Brazil and understand your point, but perhaps you can insure it?
Also something to consider in case of the Reduced, as any of the two watches might attract (or not) undesired attention, in a similar way.

the speedy reduced isn't for everyone. i fell in love with this panda dial and wear it on this strap. i wa also worried about the 39mm size being too small but it seems to fit just right on my wrist. probably would not go smaller, however.
