Hello all

Nice to meet you all! I recently moved to Saudi to start a business, which is slow - so I’m obsessing over watches instead. I just picked up a PO GMT (black/white) and I adore it. I’ve never had a Speedmaster. My other watch is a 300MC, now worn on the Bond NATO since... I left the bracelet in England in a rented apartment. D’oh.

So two Seamasters points to get the Speedmaster I guess. Thing is, it’s this specific Speedmaster because of the orange splash. And I love orange. I had an 8500 PO, but not anymore.

This is a chance to pick something similar up again. I have got a good deal here on both but he doesn’t have the PO to see, needs ordering, so doing it blind. What does everyone think of the ceramic orange? It looks different than the older aluminium.

And more broadly, these two models... what do you think? Any photos anyone can share of either? I have searched a couple threads and can see the orange PO with the white dial, but not many of the chronograph (I’m using my phone tho so may have missed!)

And here’s a pic of the new PO on Jeddah’s seafront

Planet Ocean Chrono easy.

funnily enough that’s not what I expected the first reply to be 😀 Maybe the one I wanted, though still not sure?!

It's an easy answer for me. IMHO the Planet Ocean is the best line in the Omega catalogue.

Well if thickness is of any importance to you then the Speedy is the way to go.
Quick google shows:
PO chrono = 18.87mm
Speedy racing = 14.9mm

I too am a fan of the orange. For me, it was a simple decision once I tried on a PO and the Racing. The racing just sits so much better on my wrist. Both on the leather and the bracelet. For me, the thickness of the PO (newest and 8500 series) was too much. Since you asked for pics, here’s a wrist shot showing my poor camera skills

And one of the watch just sitting on my counter

Good luck with your decision

Very tough choice as both models are wonderful. I'm leaning towards the Speedy Racing because of the lower height and I think it looks great on the strap. But, the dial on the PO is spectacular. When I wear my PO, I find myself constantly glancing down at the dial and then moving my wrist so as to see the constant changing reflections - decisions, decisions . . .

It looks next level on the strap, doesn’t it?! Ahh... thank you for the photos. It hasn’t helped. In a good way 😀

Do you have the ceramic orange chrono? 😲 the matte dial is one of the things I’m curious about - light looks good with it?

I love my new PO 39.5mm... and my Speedy Reduced (white dial). If you haven’t had a Speedmaster before, I’d get one. Just because!

I really love the Speedmaster Racing with the orange accents. I had it for a while and it was great, I think the dial is much more interesting and fun than the PO.

Not having had one before is a big pull of the Speedmaster, not gonna lie!

I hear you. I have struggled (promise, I have searched) to find many videos or real life shots of the chronograph orange, so struggling to work it out. Nowhere to see it here so it’s a bit frustrating!

My guy is getting hold of the chrono tomorrow so luckily can see both side by side and will pick one of the two up tomorrow evening. Inshallah, new watch tomorrow... let’s see!

I'm not sure if these are helpful, I think I posted some of these a year ago, but these were taken by me of my Speedmaster Racing when I had it. My wrist is about 19cm/7.4in.

Forgive my ignorance, do you recall what strap/buckle that is? Looks really good

... and so I loved both. The dial on the Seamaster way more interesting in real life than in photos... BUT I went Speedmaster this time. Hopefully, maybe the PO in a few months! But if I could only have one, I thought I have the PO GMT, a Seamaster 300, let’s finally get a Speedmaster. Pics later from Jeddah!

These were SUPER helpful. They tipped the balance back to 50/50 going into the store. I thought I’d almost certainly get the Seamaster. Saw these and was like... ahh...

And so I got the Speedmaster 😀 Love it on that strap too. I got it on bracelet but will pick up the perforated black/orange strap soon!
