Tell him about your concern, and ask for a replacement hand. There is no reason for it to get damaged if he used the correct tool.
Yes, I updated the post above. It took almost 6 weeks, but the new hand arrived, he installed it, and it looks good. Even with that, I'm not going to him again (I have another watch that needs service). Though he made it right, I did have to go after him.

I'd go back to get the reset fixed. It's clear it's going to bother you. A quarter of a second is more than a degree offset.
