To my way of thinking, these 38mm models aren't really a new line at all, they are an updated rehash of the Speedy Reduced/Date/Auto line which has been around for, what 30 years. In a rather cynical move (IMO) they have justified a large price increase by the application of some Co-axial pixie dust to a modified 7750 movement. Omega have made smaller female oriented chronographs before, there were ~37mm versions using the 3313 movement so judging some of the less than macho colourways I think they have merged those into this line also. Originally the Reduced was sold as at around 2/3 of the price of the Pro, now they are priced around the same. Still, Pro aside, they actually look cheap when considered next to the 9300 chronos and recent Pro derived LE models so perhaps from that POV they price isn't too horrific.

Well I've ordered the Orbis for my wife. She supports many charities and she likes the new 38 so bingo! I hope....

The weird oval motif on the subdials and date window on these new Reduced models is really giving me the heebie jeebies
There is a solid black version that doesn't have the oval dials or date window 😀

That's certainly one way of looking at it, but if you look at the other prominent watch that uses the Cal. 3330, the Speedmaster Mk. II, this watch is actually cheaper MSRP by several hundred dollars. Seems to be pretty much in line with the other offerings - I think comparing anything they make now to what they did 20 or 30 years ago is going to result in the watches looking very expensive.
