Speedmaster nato strap question(s)

Greetings,

Loving my speedmaster 3861 sapphire!!!

I can’t quite get a decent fit (7” wrist) with double pass natos.

Turned a few Omega OEM straps into single pass and they feel so much more comfortable.

Kept one Omega as designed as a double pass but can’t wear for long…

Ordered a few from crown and buckle as single pass and also very comfortable.

Am I doing something wrong with the double pass or maybe I just like to wear them too tight where the double pass keepers dig into my wrist.

I can see this developing into a larger collection than my modest start.

Also, is a weekly laundry bag with worn straps the best way to keep clean?

Any guidance from the community would very much be appreciated.

I wear the Omega nato around my 7" wrist. Very comfortable and I can wear it all day, no problem.

The wonky part about some of the Omega NATO straps is that the one keeper extends below the bottom layer of fabric, where it can dig into your wrist. The vast majority of other NATO straps (at least that I've come across) have the bottom of that keeper go through the bottom layer of fabric. So they don't have that issue.

I will never understand why Omega designs theirs that way.

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense. Wanted to keep it as OEM as possible but I understand and agree. Thank you again.

I couldn’t imagine paying insane Omega prices for a simple nylon strap. Crown & Buckle or Amazon are plenty reasonable. Cut off the extra loop, burn the end and you’ll be all set.

I turned a nylon OEM into a single pass and burned the ends. Very comfy. Thanks!!!

Omega nato straps are absolutely worth the extra money. The only other maker that makes them the correct length is Artem, but they’re not nearly as soft.

I hate to say it, but I prefer the Omega natos to any other brand I've tried. They are obnoxiously expensive though.

Smashing watch.

Single pass is my preference as well. That, or velcro. The Zuludiver moonwatch velcro straps are pretty comfortable, but probably not quite as good as Omega's bands. They attach to each springbar and don't pass under and are infinitely adjustable.

The Omega velcro options are pretty cool, but they're pricey.

Agree. Have you converted any to single pass?

I’m obsessed with the Crown and Buckle supreme nato single pass. Had an Omega nato and sold it because I found it too bulky.

Glad to hear the praise, I just ordered my first crown and buckle NATO. Single pass.

You’ll love it, my favorite out of the dozens I’ve tried including OEM Omega NATO.

How does one turn a NATO from double to single pass?

You carefully cut the keeper tab totally off as close to the strap itself and then use a heat source (very carefully) in proximity to melt the ends so they won't fray.

Here's an article.

Edit: I typically use a pair of very sharp Tailor's shears/cloth scissors, but any sufficiently sharp and controllable instrument will work.
