Hey all, I realize this isn't a CSOC certified movement, but I'm wondering if anyone else notices their Speedy gaining 15-20 seconds per day. I'll admit, I haven't been wearing it constantly to see if that would help - as I have other watches in rotation, so perhaps just having it in the watch case after winding is contributing to this? Perhaps it may have been magnetized? This is my first Speedmaster, so perhaps this is typical of the movement. Thanks!
That’s outside of Omega specifications - assuming yours is running an 1861... I think they rate it to +11 seconds. How old is the watch?
My 145.022-74 has always ran at about +17. I can live with that. The key is to switch out watches daily.
Yes it's the 1861, new as of September of 2018 - I'll wear it and keep it wound for a few days and time it with one of my apps. It's never concerned me all that much, as I never purchased with the assumption it was dead nuts accurate Beautiful watch all the same!
My sapphire sandwich 311...006 purchased new in Dec 2017 runs +12 sec/day. I had it tested and the beat error/amplitude reading was good. So I did not bother adjusting it, will just regulate it when it's time for the first service. If you want, bring it to an AD and assume all warranty paperwork is there they should be able to regulate it for free.
I've had a few new Speedmasters run around the +15 s/d mark too. Opened them up and regulated them all to around +2 s/d in about 5 mins with the help of a timegrapher. Bring it to your OB or AD that hopefully has a watchmaker just chillin' in the back. It's an easy fix.
My 145.022-76 is about +\- 5 when I wear it daily. I rarely wear it more then 2 days in a row though l.
My recent pick-up, a 2011 3570.50, runs steadily at -5 seconds a day. Rarely worn by the original owner, it has been worn almost daily by me for 3 weeks now, wound at the same time every day (timed against my Mac, admittedly). Likely needs a service, but as a wise man said recently here on OF, with 86,400 seconds in a day, why worry about a few of them...?
Have a look at this thread - it may help you understand how the timing tolerances for this watch work, and why your watch may be within Omega tolerances... https://omegaforums.net/threads/timing-tolerances-a-guide-to-understand-how-they-work.87293/ Cheers, Al
I'm about +5 to +8 a day. Its easy. Once it gets to +30 seconds to actual time I just set it back a whole minute to -30s of actual time. Then I just wait 2-3 weeks and watch it increase. I think if I wear it all day and go crystal down at night time it gets it pretty close to +1-2s
Also, I doubt its magnetized. I work in a highly magnetic field where all my other watches (Nomos) got magnetized weekly. Been wearing speedmaster at work for 1.5 years and its never been magnetized not even once. I do have one of those cheap ebay demags though that doesn't work very well. The trick is they work better at 220Vac
