·Hi all,
I've had my Speedy Mkii for around 6 years now but haven't worn it a great deal due to not having the correct bracelet for it (it was on a lesthee rslly strap which I felt just didn't suit the watch at all). I've just acquired a used braclet which I think is legit, but my main query is regarding glass replacement.
My watch has plenty of patina to it which I don't want to alter, but the glass has a crack in it. It's not a scratch as I can feel it with my fingernail as I run across it.
Given that the Tachymetre bezel is internal on the mkii, does this mean that a glass replacement also means a bezel replacement or are the two separate? I don't want to change anything on the dial and lose the patina of the watch but I'm obviously mindful of the crack in the glass. The crack can be seen just above the 9 o'clock position.
Secondary to this, thoughts on the bracelet I've just acquired. Legit vintage or modern replacement? It's marked as 1162/1/173 which I believe is correct for a mkii of this era (without cracking the case back open to check the serial no, I think the watch is around 1972 ish. It's got plenty of wear marks on it which suits the watch.
Thanks in advance, James.
