Picked this up and it just arrived. It is rough and needs a service plus a couple of links.

I had a black dial a few years back and regretted parting with it.

    1040 cal movement.
What do you see that I don’t? I'm thinking of returning it due to two spots of rust on the spacer. I don't see any on the movement.

Last one I had, I sent to bienne and it came back perfect. I should kept it, but a good friend talked me out if it. I'd keep it and have it overhauled.

I was looking for additional links and noticed on the large auction site there are NOS cases, case backs, bezel inserts and most seem legitimate. Why are there so many spare parts for this model and not for say the mark ii or iv?

Good question. Until pretty recently, dealers could order these parts as replacements, so maybe some are selling their slow moving spare parts?

So links are hard to come buy at anything reasonable. I actually need 5 or six. Might be easier to buy a bracelet. Any leads on either?

Has anyone ordered an Extract of the Archives for Mark III? I am curious if they include the dial variants.

regarding the NOS parts that are seemingly plentiful for this particular model. I've found basically everything NOS except the dial and hands. The lume on this isn't as pronounced as a Moon or a Mark II. So I was entering the thoughts of restoring this with NOS bezel insert, possibly a case, etc... and waiting to have it serviced and restored when a great dial shows up. Since these don't have the patina factor like others, what is the general thought on doing this to a Mark III? I cannot see a difference in any of the parts. It would be my guess that some of the "Like New" Mark III's that have crossed auction blocks were done like this. (I could be wrong of course). If I send it to Bienne that is what they would do right? with the possible exception of the case?

Thanks. I've only ordered them for black dial watches. Before I start reconditioning the Mark III an Extract will be ordered. If I'm going to spend money on this thing then I want it to be as correct as it can be. Thanks again.

I found a Mark III a while back and sent it to Omega for service. The case was over polished so after the warranty from Omega ended I had a watch maker just transfer the movement to a NOS case. This is how it looks now. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

I know, it’s the original dial but if it had a new one the whole watch would look like new. I don’t know how much did all this affects the price of the watch but I also kept the older case for when I sell the watch.

Personally I would sell the bracelet that doesn’t fit and with that money fund the purchase of an OEM one. For that one I would go first directly to a boutique and then online.

I found a NOS bracelet, still in the package. It arrived today and I'll be selling the other. My question is: The package is marked 1162-172 and it fits correctly but the end links are not stamped 172. I've seen quite a few like this and just wonder why?

just under 300. It was from a seller that had quite a bit of Omega stock. Not just this. All packaged correctly. Comparing it to the one I'm replacing the only difference in anything, quality, etc...is the lack of a stamp.
