Another day, another bracelet.
Engineer type, machined end links, 20mm width, no taper, brushed face, with polished sides and double safety clasp.

I like it. But I'm torn between this and the president style above.

Hmm. Will give it a few days to decide.

Mine with a custom strap from Combat Straps.
That's a great combination - I think thats the best strap MKII pairing I've seen - congrats on such a good choice

So many lovely mkll’s I must dig mine back out... I have to forcibly put mine away as I find when it’s in rotation it doesn’t get off the wrist

Another option 👍 but I would prefer the "president style", just fits better imho

I just got my MkII back from its first overhaul since 1981, I wore it very little since then but decided to finally get it back in working order. I retired the bracelet and went with a Genteel Handmade navy blue saffiano goat leather with orange stitching and grapefruit leather interior. Just a lot more wearable for me.

Just trying out a 1498 style bracelet.
Not too sure about it.
I think I prefer the president and the Engineer.

Mark II Love?

Yes 😀

One of the best examples I've seen - the lume on many MkII's seems to age a sludgy green colour, yours has a nice even yellow

Love my Speedy Mk II! While it's true that the design does appear chunkier, the actual measured thickness is only 0.8mm more than the Original Speedy, and still thinner than virtually all of the 7750 based watches.

I recently changed mine over to a strap from the bracelet, really changing the overall look of the watch. While there's alot to be said for the integrated look of the original tapered bracelet, the strap adds a bit of personality.

Thank you. The lume is great and is what drove me to the watch. Never thought much about the markII but the overall condition is really nice. Couldnt resist. Now that i have it i really love it.

Looking good in the sun - they have a unique style and IMHO look best on the bracelet as in your pic

Wearing the Mark II for a few days now and it is running between +2 and +3s per day, which is more than acceptable. However, when it gets to the +30s mark, I tend to reset it.

However, I love the fact that the hardy old 861 movement only needs a little bit of back pressure on the crown to hold the second had to synch it exactly once again.

It is no wonder it achieved what it did.

As mentioned before, I've played around with a lot of different bracelets to see what really suits my Mark II.

I've settled on the engineer style and the 1450, president style.

As you may have seen here, the Uncle Seiko 1450 style is causing quite a stir.

I have been in contact with Larry of Uncle Seiko, and suggested that a flat end-link version for Mark series owners would be a good shout. He said he would get out his vernier and see what it would take. So, for anyone who likes the look, we may soon have a high quality option for a 1450 style band for the Mark II and its stablemates.

Nice to see the old Mk2's getting some more love, I've noticed their prices have finally been increasing of late too, they've been undervalued for so so long.

I miss mine, not because I sold it, it's away with STS having a service and case/bracelet refurb(the refurb I've been on the fence about doing ever since I bought it as had never been refinished before).

I'll post some pics when I get it back, shouldn't be much longer now.

Regarding bracelets I've put it to both uncleseiko and fostner a while back and both said it's something they might do, that would be best solution.

You can still buy the 1162 I think it is? From Omega which is pretty nice if a little lighter than the original, but what really kills that option for me is the way they laser etch the clasp logo nowadays which just looks crap compared to the old sunken logo. Especially accounting for what you pay.

Whatever option the MK2 needs the bracelet ends to flare it to 22mm to look right imo.

Blasphemy, I know, but that beat case was never gonna transform the ugly duckling into a swan, so am satisfied with the result...

I would still be up for a top condition markii...all pointers welcome.

Nice!

Why not just refinish your Mk2 case ?

My 1970, 145.034 when I got it........(now sold 🙁 )

.....and after restoring surfaces and brushing

Not such a fan of refinishing, plus I don’t have a MkII bracelet and finding one to match the refinished case would be even more tough than finding one to match the beat case...
