Speedmaster Mark 4.5 opinions?

I've been offered a trade on a Breitling I have in this Mark 4.5
My questions arise as I know very little about the Mark series. I am really looking to see if anyone can tell me if it's been over-polished? I also would like opinions if it's a relatively even trade at $2,750 in value? Would I be able to find a better one for that range?

The pics suck but that case is looking mighty soft. Those lines along the sides should be crisp with sunburst brushing on top, linear brushing on the sides and a razor sharp chamfer along the length with mirror polish. Bezel should also be mirror polish.
Pics are of a factory refinished case from a very old FS listing on this site but it will show how the factory finishes should look.

Even if it was razor sharp, $2.7 is a push for a 4.5, it would have to be flawless and with full kit for that kind of money

I agree with the above assessment. Incidentally, I want a Mk 4.5 really bad.

What’s funny is I never gave them a second thought 5-10 years ago when I was focused on 50’s/60’s watches. But in the last 2-3 years I’ve been digging the 70’s watches and all of the MK Speedy’s have been looking cool. I wouldn’t mind one from each set MKII (racing preferably), III (yes a door knocker), and a MK4…not so hot on the day feature of the 4.5 but wouldn’t kick it out of bed.

I hadn't ever paid them any mind either but now I will be on the hunt for the 4.5 in particular. Go figure right?

I love the day/date and think it's an awesome way to get back to a Lemania 5100.

Quite right and when I find one it'll go nicely with my Tutima...

I.traded a Sinn 156 for a 2254.50 about a year ago. I'm happy with the trade but really want another Lemania 5100. A 7176 or similar would be awesome, too.
