Speedmaster loosing accuracy

Dear team, I have a 2 year old speedmaster. It's started to gain circa 20 seconds day. When I bought it, it was circa +3 seconds per day. I went into Omega to see if it was magnetized, however they said it wasn't. They placed it on a Timegrapher and said it was within tolerance as on all positions, on average speed was sub +11. However, I believe this is due to the large deviations. Would anyone know what is causing this?

Are you winding it fully, until the winding crown will no longer turn, once per day? What are you using for a time reference for comparison? Could the error result from a lifestyle factor? (Playing racquetball with the watch on?) My recently conditioned Speedmaster (calibre 863) which is 32 years old, runs about 1 second fast per day.

This was my first thought as well, but then I realized we don't even know what type of "Speedmaster" it is.

Unfortunately, if an Omega dealer couldn't diagnose it in person, I doubt that we are going to be able to diagnose this over the internet. And without knowing more details about the watch, it's unclear if anything is actually wrong with it. I suppose you could send it into the Swatch Service Center and hope that they will service it under warranty.

I wind it fully every morning until the winding crown will no longer turn. I don't think my lifestyle would cause it, as it's just worn when I go to work (office job)

Based on the performance of my 32 year old Speedmaster (+1second per day), the modern Speedmaster should yield much better performance! If it was my watch, I would insist that it be given a service under the warranty. Let us know the end result.

The AD said it was within tolerance. I've sent an email to Omega directly, i'll keep you updated with the outcome. I'm sure something is wrong with the watch, as it use to run circa 2/3s fast per day only

I know the 1861 wasn't Master Chronometer certified, but +/- 20 seconds a day seems way out of whack for a 2 year old watch.

Did the AD say what the tolerance actually was? (what the limits were?)

So if you wind it fully every day and wear it normally in day to day activities, you are experiencing +20 seconds per day? Have you varied the position you place the watch overnight (crown up, crown down, dial up, dial down) to see what, if any, effect this will have on your daily rate? Some experimentation may be in order. If you bought the watch new from an AD it is covered by Omega's five year warranty, so you have three more years of coverage. You might just want to keep an eye on it and truly verify that it's performance is deteriorating.

At best, you will be looking at several months. A full service won’t be fast and it doesn’t help that service centers are back logged as is.

The SC will look at it and, if it meets spec, they will just send it back. I don't think the OP is automatically going to get a full service. At any rate he's looking at a couple of months, at least. Possibly longer.

It won't be a full service. They suggested they'd try regulate it

You have to send it to Warren G for proper regulation

Got the call from Omega today. Turns out watch was magnetised. Back to running at +3s per day

Buy a cheap demagnitizer so you'll be prepared the next time, this is a do-it-yourself 'repair'.

I picked a cheap one off of eBay. Works. One of the blue ones with a red button. There are dozens of manufacturers and they all seem to be the same.
