Good evening all, Ive always been more of a fan of the seamasters than anything else but I’ve happened to stumble across a speedmaster online selling just shy of £800. My only issue is that I have little to no knowledge on the model so I’m utterly clueless as to weather or not it’s authentic or what to look out for. I’m hoping someone could help me out. Many thanks.

I may also ask about a seamaster I have been looking at (£750, 36mm this time rather than 40+) as it’s an older roughly 2006 model I’d say which again I am unfamiliar on, I will attach the photos on here too and if anyone is able to provide guidance on either please do reply. Thank you 😀

Note this this is a Speedmaster Reduced. Is that what you want?

To be honest I am not too sure on the difference, I will do some research, thank you for pointing it out! My main concern is the authenticity of both watches as I don’t want to end up mistakenly purchasing a fake. Does the speedmaster seem consistent/ authentic along with the seamaster?

Both watches as pictured are legit, but at those prices, be prepared to get scammed or at least get hit with a switcheroo.

Th pictures aren’t good enough to allow any meaningful assessment other than to say they look genuine.

If you don’t know what you’re buying, how do you know you want it though?!?!

The Speedmaster cannot be compared to a Speedmaster Professional. It’s the reduce with a piggy pag, modular movement that is no in high demand and can be challenging to service outside of official channels which will cost more than the watch.

Don’t buy because you think you found a deal. There’s a high chance you’ll either get scammed or end up with a watch you don’t want if you aren’t familiar with the models. Instead find a watch you like and try to find one at a good cost:quality ratio.

I’m going to try to get the seller to send some sort of customised image with their username or contact in the background on paper ect for proof the photos belong to them rather than just some stolen images, thank you for your help with authentication and warning

I’ve currently got a seamaster great white however I’ve been looking for one similar to my fathers (roughly 1997 dark blue face & bezel) hence why I’ve been looking at the 36mm although the speedmaster have taken my fancy during my search. Seems I might need to better educate myself on the models of speedmaster then before I go ahead with anything, hence why I thought I’d give a group a try, thank you for the information on the variations
