Perhaps TheChosen! doesn't exist at all and the machines have already taken over and are trolling humans. Could the machines be attacking a mechanical watch because it's not electronic?

Same as it ever was...

You know, it didn’t occur to me until now to wonder. Is the chrono hand off—or is it exactly where it should be, and it’s whole goldanged world that’s misaligned?

It sure feels like that sometimes.

Big takeaway? Some of you take this forum way too seriously. God bless - I sincerely hope you get to keep posting here forever so the rest of us can remember what happens when passion forgets perspective.
...and some take a minor misalignment of a chrono hand way too seriously. And it seems like someone lost perspective a long time ago.

Can I vote this one as the "Thread Of The Year"?

Yeah, but as a cautionary tale illustrating how narcissism, arrogance, and immature cluelessness can combine with a desire to manipulate responses to a Forum topic in order to gain the validation craved.

Last year there was a similar thread about a guy who was obsessed over a miniscule error of a misaligned index. That thread shows up in the 'Similar Threads' summary at the bottom of this page, good for a read. He sent it off to Omega but he then disappeared, never to be heard from again. Look for 'Really disappointed with service at Omega boutique' by @DonJuanMair.

And yet - there was no clue to any of that in his forum name... 🤔

What AI believes the perfect troll would do. Right down to the profile pic and username choice.

This whole experience has seriously shaken my confidence in Omega and the Swatch Group’s standards.

This thread has shaken my confidence in your ability to be rational.

It never occurred to me that a lot of this might have been AI. Strange, but if true, this is more disturbing to me than a flawed human being. I can understand obsessive compulsive, insecurity and a narcissistic personality that won't allow a person to be incorrect. We're all flawed personalities in some way and doing the best we can with what we got. But if some of this is coming from AI, that takes away the hope for growth, forgiveness and understanding. It's somehow more fatalistic.

The patterns all match ChatGPT, but it's likely based off someone providing a summary and having it re-written (IMO).

Does chatGPT add bolded text to various sentences or parts of them?

Definitely. It likes creating structure and providing emphasis on key points. Section headings, lists, em dashes (always). Favoring certain output patterns and sentence structure too.

out of curiosity I just ran the original post through 4 free online AI checkers. (Anyone can duplicate this—just a quick google search will find them.)

One checker said there was (only) a 14% chance it was AI, but the other three all said the likelihood of AI was very high.

So that seems like a solid hunch!

Yes, but what if the initial content was human generated, but AI "improved" as @Trev mentioned. English being my second language, I do this regularly in Perplexity to polish my texts before sending.
