Speedmaster 'Chrono Creep'

Hi All,

I have a couple of 145.012 Speedmasters that suffered from 'Chrono Creep'.The totaliser at 6 o'clock returned to zero on re-set, but then continued to totalise even though the chrono function was disabled.

My watchmaker sorted them out quite quickly - apparently the bottom chrono pusher was exerting a tiny amount of pressure even at it's neutral position which allowed some 'drive' to the hour totaliser.

It seems this is a fairly common problem - any idea why it should happen ?

I have owned three Speedmasters (one 861, one 321, and a new one with an 1861 movement). The two older ones both suffered from this problem shortly after I purchased them, but a service fixed the problem. So, based on my small sample size, it is common when the watch needs service. 😀

It is a common problem that requires the adjustment of an eccentric that is located under the dial. Checking the correct operation is covered in the service procedure.
