Thanks, that’s good to hear. Will head in on Fri/Sat to see if I can do the same - was it easy enough to get them to match?
Went to collect today, & was with the older clasp.
AD seeing if they can source the new style clasp.
Going to let me know. Either way I’ll be collecting on Tuesday.
One thing I wanted to check. The watch they showed me, from the box had no stickers on.
Should I be correct in thinking brand new would have stickers. Unless it’s a display model? (Odd as they had to get it in for me)
I have the new clasp, I don't really use the function at all. But I can understand that you are buying new right now and so should have the new style adjustable clasp. When I got mine from the OB they took the one from the display, (they had hesalite and saphire on display), and that (saphire) was the one I walked out with. It was covered in plastic and after I confirmed I wanted to buy it, he unwrapped it completely in front of me. I did not really notice what stickers were on it, as the guy took care of that. He went and sized the bracelet for several minutes and when he came back he walked me through the watch, pointed out it was brand new and blemish free, checked serial numbers etc..
Thanks for the reply.
As buying for a celebratory reason & heirloom (not having the easy adjustment on my BB58) think I would use it in the Speedy.
I didn’t see any stickers being removed, which makes me think possible ex display.
Being a tad fussy, I would like it to be brand new
I understand completely. For sure the watch I bought was on display and was most certainly taken out to show people for that day. But it was shrink wrapped so I was ok with that. One thing I did bear in mind was that I am in Hong Kong at a busy boutique so can assume a high turnover of pieces and we have zero consumer laws here. I was even told by the sales staff that once he removed the wrapping I was obliged to pay and no returns. He made a point to say they never sell used watches.
Many thanks for your help guys, my AD was happy to match the 15% discount and I’m now a very happy new member of the club
Shrink wrapping is an individual dealer thing, very common in Asia, they don't come from the factory that way. A new Omega bracelet watch comes in its own barcoded coffin, open the coffin and you'll find the watch in a small plastic bag with a small piece of black foam to prevent the bracelet making content with the back of the watch. The watch has a sticker on the back with barcode and serial number, the crystal has a round sticker, the bracelet has a a protective strip on it as does the clasp. The red cards are also in the coffin, the hang tag, too. Many dealers remove the stickers for display purposes, and you usually won't get the coffin or hang tag. You won't find case stickers like Rolex uses. Lack of stickers doesn't mean anything, it's just dealer practice. Most prospective buyers don't want to see a watch all stickered up.
Just joined the 3861 club as well and couldn't be happier- Brand new with bracelet (not shown as it wasn't sized yet). Purchased it with an 18% discount from a trusted dealer in our own dealer section.
