Different sizes, different movements... all on Omega’s website.

All right! I guess it’s Speedy Tuesday and all 👍

This is definitely pushing me to the edge, been seriously considering getting one of these to replace the SMP 8800 that I just can't seem to like as much as my Speedmaster, this appears to be a viable replacement for a Reduced. I think my future has multiple Speedmasters in it......

Just called my AD, going to look at one on Thursday, hopefully the bells will ring! I'm thinking seriously about offloading my Seamaster in favor of this if the numbers are right. I've looked at the previous Speedmaster Reduced, understand that there were 2 versions? One more desirable than the other but neither had a date function which I really prefer. I'd really like an automatic/date variant of the classic 42mm Speedmaster, if truth be told, looked at the 44mm versions, but just too large. This 38mm version may just be close enough.

Ran this by my distaff side, she's telling me if I really want it, go for it. Looks like I'm going to have 2 Speedmasters. Who knows, next year, could be 3? I don't think this is treatable, at least it's not Rolexitis.

Well, took my Seamaster Pro back to my AD today, looked at the Speedmaster 38. Liked what I saw, they ordered the 324.30.38.50.01.001 for me, took my Seamaster back as an exchange for what I paid because it was barely worn and still had the whole kit, gave me a price that essentially made it an even trade, also ordered a tan leather deployant strap. Hopefully will have it late next week, I'll post pictures. This will make Speedy #2, who knows what surprises next year will bring. I guess this qualifies as Speedy Mania, but very much looking forward to having a Speedmaster as my "daily driver".

My thanks to the OP for the pictures, really influenced my decision. His enthusiasm for what is, essentially, a new Speedmaster Reduced, helped me make an informed decision.

Also, is it my imagination or does this one differ from all the other 38mm variations? They all seem to have "oval" subdials, but the ones here look round.
...

The ovals put me off this range, but now I might be changing my tune... 👎

Me too. I wish I had seen this one earlier, I like it!

Awesome move, Phil! Wow. If I could trade my SMP for this model, I'd do that too. But I just got Speedy #2 on Monday, so getting #3 so soon might be an issue... there are just so many of them, and they're all so good!

Since I have one of these coming next week, gotta ask what sort of accuracy are you getting? I know they are COSC rated, I'm hoping mine will run a tad fast instead of a tad slow. So glad you posted this, really helped making a decision.

Can I add a question for those that have bought this watch please? How comfortable is it on the bracelet, as it does not have any fine adjustment or half links? I do know that the standard links are quite small, but can you get a good fit, or is it too tight with one link removed/too loose with one link added (if you get what I mean)?

Thanks in advance.

Don't know yet, I'll have the watch (hopefully) by the end of the week, my AD will size it when I pick it up, I can let you know about both comfort/feel/fit then. The links do look smaller than my Speedmaster Professional bracelet, which, due to the lack of quarter or half links, is either too loose or too tight depending on temperature (effects wrist size) I solved that problem by getting an Omega leather deployant strap....also have one coming for the 38, good to have options.

Got notification that my new Speedmaster has arrived, pickup either tomorrow or Tuesday. Got a question, hopefully for Archer.....have done as much homework on the 3330 movement as I can, just one bit of information has escaped me: Does the 3330 hack ? Seems like a very decent and evolved movement, but none of the reviews mention it's ability to hack. Really like that function when setting a watch.

Took delivery of my 324.30.38.50.01.001 38mm Speedmaster on Sunday, currently wearing it on the bracelet. Initial impressions: dial & case are a bit more " blingy" than a reduced, the sapphire crystal does appear to resemble the Hesalite as the OP reported. The 3330 movement runs very accurately, no deviation in 48 hours compared to the NIST time widget. It's freezing rain here so I'll try to get some comparison wrist shots outside later today, my tablet does much better with natural light. The original Reduced had an appearance closer to the Speedy Pro, this one is similar but a bit different overall due to the rhodium hands and indices. The square date window is subtle yet quite readable. Definitely smaller but wears nicely, bracelet is comfortable, non-pinching and supple, although the clasp is, for me, awkward. I do have the leather strap/deployant clasp coming and will most likely switch to that. Pictures to follow, hopefully later today.

Sun's finally out, here's a side-by-side comparison shot, both on bracelets, really hard to shoot with one hand using a tablet, but here's what I got. Still waiting for the deployant strap for the 38mm. This is a very nice watch, using NIST time widget, running at +1sec/day. It would have been nice if all the hands & indices were white and the outer ring didn't have the polished highlights, but overall it's pretty close overall to the Speedy Pro in flavor, enough to satisfy me. The date window integrates well and is both readable and relatively inconspicuous. The only thing I don't care for is the butterfly clasp. I'm looking forward to the deployant strap.

Thanks for the writeup and photos -- surprisingly different-looking watch side by side (much more so than, say the FOIS and the Speedy Pro), but clearly has some advantages for those interested in an automatic version of the Speedy. It does underscore for me the fact that the Pro may have survived and thrived as long as it has in part due to its nearly perfect proportions, from dial/subdial to crown and pushers.

To try to address the bracelet issue, yes, it seems comfortable, doesn't pinch. The links are small enough to allow, at least for me, adequate adjustment, there is no micro-adjust. My only comment is that, the butterfly clasp is difficult for me, but I have some moderate nerve damage to my right hand, you may not have that issue. I will be adding a deployant strap when it arrives, but overall a nice bracelet.

Deployant strap arrived Monday, very nice except for two issues: strap is way too short & as lugs are 18mm, strap tapers to 16mm, which, for me is too narrow. Hopefully my AD can come up with a proper length 18mm strap that uses the 18mm clasp.
Are there any 18mm Horween style or stitched leather straps that don't taper to 16? Or is my only option a single-pass leather NATO? I have a 7" wrist and the 18mm tapered straps just seem too small. Hoping if Omega doesn't have an 18mm non-tapered deployant, they may have a tan/brown leather strap with an Omega 18mm buckle. Another trip to the AD to exchange the one I got means another walk by the "Case of Temptation"

I love it.
Is that model safe to swim with?
It's rated 100m/300ft .......but it does have pushers and the date setting button. Wouldn't be my 1st choice for a swim watch, they make Seamasters for that. I try to keep my chronographs dry, but, I probably worry too much, I know some here swim with Speedmaster Professionals.

Received this the other day. Looks better in person than stock pictures online. It wears larger than 38mm, I would say closer to 40, so I would recommend for people who think the Professional is too large.

Some observations:
The domed sapphire crystal has a parallax/magnification effect similar to hesalite. Chronograph pushers have a very nice beveled edge detail. The dial is a satin black, not sunburst like the marketing images show. I much prefer this so that’s a bonus. Subdials are countersunk and have a concentric circles finish. Outer edge of the tachymetre bezel has a polished finish with grooves for each measurement.

First impressions are very good. Movement’s rotor is relatively quiet. Winding is very smooth. Very comfortable on the bracelet so far.

think that looks great
