Hi everyone, it took a while, but I've really come to appreciate the Speedmaster ;-). I'm looking to buy a model from the 80s or 90s with tritium dial, 861 movement.
I've read a few 101s, specifically about the older versions, so I'm not really sure if there are other details I need to pay attention to with these newer references? What would you think about the version below? Case doesn't seem very polished, but I find it hard to judge the rest of the watch.
What would you find a fair value? 4500-5000 euro?
Thanks!
Yves

Hi Yves.
The price you are refering to seems high to me for such a Speedy.
The bezel was heavily scratched between 95 and 80 and filled with some black ink...

This is high considering a very nice and serviced 1985 Speedy with bracelet and boxes just sold on here 4000usd

True. That was an absolute bargain, though... Wish I'd had the funds at hand to buy it.

Back to the OP's watch; wholeheartedly agree that the price is rather ambitious. Even more so as the bezel is indeed not looking too great. Sourcing a flawless DNN bezel will set you back at least another 400 to 600 euro, making this quite a bit more expensive than I would be able to justify...

To me, the 1479 / 812 bracelet is a plus, making the package worth about 4k to me, assuming box and papers are no longer there.

It’s a nice looking watch, sadly let down by the DNZ (Dot Next to Zero) bezel 🙄

Thanks for the comments! Even though the other watch offered here at OF had some marks on the bezel, i agree the repainting here does not look nice. If the bezel would have been correct, would close to 5k have been justifiable?

I guess it depends.. Do you buy it to a pro or not (so serviced and with a guarantee) ? Box and papers?
But for me, with a unannounced repainted bezel (that makes me suspicious about the seller), and the fact that the lume glowing of the sweep hand isn't complete (it looks weird to me) and -if- no box / papers, I'll pass here for 5k.

Even with a fine bezel, 5k€ is too high. I mean, you can find nicer watches for that price.

Thanks! I was just trying to understand what would be 'theoretically' a correct price, as the speedmaster101 table just goes towards 1978. But I can understand from the crowd that it should still be valued lower. Thanks!
