There are many expensive watches on here, and I have owned and lost more than I care to say. I have special ones and one of the best is my 145-002 69 ST with straight writing. It's not totally rare but I have owned it since 2004 and I am the second owner from new.

It was manufactured in December 1973 and shipped to the UK. The first owner bought it in Scotland on the 3rd Jan 1975...I have the papers and receipt...two questions:?

1. What did they pay for it?
2. What did I pay for it in 2004 ( I am the second owner!)

I just had it serviced my Mr Freese and I bought it with the crystal with the gold ring, I love it like that.

I am the second custodian and its not polished to death...it's lightweight and wonderful...

Let me know your estimates!!!

Beautiful watch! I am not sure if I can answer your question but I am sure the answer is going to make my head spin as a younger collector. I was a high school kid back when none knew a 105.003 from a CK2998. I still think these watches are a bargain compared to modern steel sports watches but I would sure like it if the prices could get knocked by a factor of four haha.

Edited for grammar, spelling, and clarity.

Don't sweat...every generation can get a steal... buy what you like from the modern ranges...or some nice vintage value original watches...wear them skydiving or whatever you like....enjoy them....I have worn all watches without caring...

Been growing the collection slowly. I have noticed that the current market is a bit soft on the dressier side of things so I tend to steer my habits in that direction. As for wearing watches, I tend to agree. My reverso functions somewhat closer to the polo watch it was designed to be than the brunch and board meetings watches it has become.

I’ll play. I guess the first owner bought it for £185 in 1975.
I guess you paid around £1k for it in 2004 considering I paid $800 for my ‘72 moon in 2002…which is what they were worth.

Ok….not a bad guess….the gentleman paid £ 97.40 for the watch ( he got a 5% discount on £ 102.50) and I paid £ 600.00 for it off the eBay!

You should have offered less with that gold ring. 😉

You got a nice deal on it even then. I knew I overpaid for mine at $800, but it was a collector, and it had been serviced, and it was in my hand…and he also had a 16750 GMT I wanted, so I haggled the two watches down from $1k on the Speedy and $2.5k for the GMT down to $3k for both cash out the door. I had never spent that much on watches in my life at the time. I had the cold sweats.
