Speedmaster 145.022 Franken?

I'm not very knowledgeable about vintage Speedmasters so I'd be interested to get you opinions on whether this one is a franken.

Am I right in thinking the dial is too old to be originally supplied with this movement (32 million serial) and the hands don't match the dial?

The caseback is clearly a service part but I wondered if the case, crown and pushers are also modern service parts. I know it is probably far from a collectors' piece but I was considering picking it up but didn't want to overpay too much so I'd be grateful if you could give me an idea of value. Thanks in advance.

Yes. The movement, dial and bezel have no place being in the same watch.

The case back is a modern service item so the whole thing looks put together.

Well in theory it could be a 145.022-68 transitional. With a new service straight writing back.

I see no Delrin brake and serial seems about right of the top of my head.

That serial is much too late for a transitional, more like a -71 or -74 even. It is about right for a SW too.

That would be quite a 'hopeful' outcome; most 145.022-68's sit in the 26.5 to 27mio range. To me, it looks like the movement (145.022-71, perhaps) and dial with applied logo also do not belong together originally.

Yup you guys are right 71SW serial range. Interesting straight writing service caseback. Not exactly commonly seen.

Nice lookin' stepped dial with an AML, but why the markers so white?

I'll wager the lume was horrible, green and mouldy and the rest of the watch was a wreck which is why the dial had the lume scraped, before being mated to a spare movement and some new service parts to make up a full watch.

Yo, a washed dial 🤦 Thanx for making me take a closer look.

I’m in Austin and have a repairman I trust very much. He has a Speedy with an applied logo dial and a 861 movement in his shop. He told me it was all legit and very rare. His asking is just north $10,000.

It could be a transitional Speedmaster, but without further details no one is likely to be able to help you,

Is it worth $10k? unlikely unless it is in mint condition, photographs would help 😀
