    Hi everyone

Although I've been collecting Omegas for a while, I'm new to the Forum. I've posted some of my collection below - mostly inhered from my father but I've added to it over the years. Will post a photo of Connies and Devilles when I can get a display box to put them in. I try to wear most of them apart from a couple of the oddities, and the POs have been scuba diving... The gaps are watches that are off being serviced.

My question is about a Speedmaster 145.022-69, straight text, it has an 861 movement and 28m serial nos. The dial however is missing the "Professional", but it is a stepped dial, looks old, has a raised metal logo and doesn't look like a service dial. The omega logo is on the hesalite. So:
1, Is it worth keeping the dial, i.e. could it be "genuine" but a fit afterwards of an older dial, or should I try and find a correct vintage dial?
    2. Also, any idea what the bracelet is? The clasp says 1036/12 but I assume it's a refit as Google says that 1036/12 is grains of rice Connie bracelet...

    Thanks in advance!

Well you've got a dial from a 105.003 or later 2998, a movement from perhaps a 145.022-68 (though I suspect an Extract will say it's from a Seamaster...) and a caseback from a 1971 or so 145.022-69. I believe this watch is a put-together from some years back.

The good news is that the dial has quite a bit of value, though I imagine the dial feet have been chopped off. The bracelet looks like a 1039, which also has value but not as much as it would with a proper clasp and 516 end links.

I would ask a watchmaker to examine the dial feet, but I'm sorry to say I wouldn't spend money trying to make this watch right.

105.003 ;) dial it has narrow spaced t's. I'm going to go out on a limb and say those hands went with that dial too. Otherwise as noted above.

Movement, does not fall in range for a straight writing.

About the dial feet... the 321 movement has the same basic dial feet as the 861, but they are longer and thicker. To get a 321 dial on an 861 movement you need to trim those feet. As far as I know you cannot easily lengthen those feet again to make it fit on an 321. https://omegaforums.net/threads/dial-difference-between-145-012-and-145-022.6135/page-2#post-72595

    Search eBay for sold items.

You will be shocked what a 321 hand set sold for last week.

I also think a similar dial sold last week as well.

I would agree, if it's not a Speedmaster movement might be best parting this out.

Thank you - as I feared but better to find out now than later...Makes me glad I joined, as I'm looking to buy a Straight Text, an Ed White, and one day when I've sold a kidney, a CK2998...

Thanks - it'll be better once I have a proper box for the Connies and other dress watches rather than the shoe boxes they are in now..

Just echo above comments about it's hard to make it right from a bunch of parts, but some parts if not damaged could fetch quite a bit.

Also, just in case you haven't known already, your 2 Seamaster 300s don't look right and don't really belong to the otherwise nice collection.

I just did - it's shocking! I agree with all the advice, I'm not really interested in a put together watch, so I'll keep looking for an authentic one (drop me a line if you have a proper Straight Text you can be parted from!)

Certainly a mish mash of parts.

The dials looks nice though. Parting out just the dial would go a long way towards a straight writing -69.

    Amazing collection you have there!

The 28M its too low for a Straigth writing IMO, mine is 32M, the dial is not from that model as well.

You can perhaps do a WTT on OF for a nice looking 861 dial and get some extra cash. I'd try to hunt for the case back later.. Some people here want that dial :)

Ok - here you go -

The Connie in the middle was my graduation present from my dad, and what got me started on collecting them, I also inherited the two black dial Pie Pans from him. I do love the Connjes up to the first Manhattan, after that they become a bit too dictator-princess-bling for my tastes...The Deville 930 in the top right is also a favourite because of the oddity of the date window at 9, and the Seamster Compressor which I think is hugely underrated...

    connies dress.jpg

At some point when funds allow i'd like to add to my collection - a Bullhead, Ed White, a 105.012, and few white faced Connies (2782/354, 2943/504, 14381/551. If I ever manage to sell a kidney and a couple of the kids, I'll also add a CK2998, a CK2914 and a Grand Luxe with the solid gold brick bracelet...
