Unfortunate they weren't able to pull any information but big news on them stating the Extract from the Archives will be back in 2024. Many members have have been hoping they bring this back, so thank you for sharing!

Yes I was pretty excited to hear that it would be back next year, I did wonder if it was ever coming back after they removed it from their website. I have used it a couple of times previously and I enjoyed the information it provided.

Here is what they said specifically;

Although it is not systematically the case that there is no public information available for watches from this period, it may happen occasionally.

To obtain the information you are requesting, an Extract from the OMEGA Archives would indeed be necessary and, unfortunately, this service is temporarily unavailable.

We are currently in the process of enhancing our vintage service offer to ensure that it aligns with the current needs of our clients, all while preserving the timeless values and traditions that define our brand.

The new format of the OMEGA Extract from the Archives will be made available in the course of 2024. To make sure you are among the first to benefit from it, we encourage you to follow us across our various communication channels.

I went against the grain and kept it… I like the tritium dial, the slightly faded bezel and the freshly serviced movement is a thing of beauty.

With that said, I noticed this small engraving on the case and wondered if it meant anything specific or merely a reference for someone at point?

The number falls just outside of my observed range for the -65, but I have not revisited this for some time, and it may be that your number and case back are correct.

however I would be more worried it was a non speedmaster movement. No way to tell until the purge in Bienne is complete and all the witches are dead.

The dial is a rare service dial, fitted by omega regularly at some point. I have one. They are very uncommon and to me interesting. Not valuable though.

The number on the lug looks like a watch maker mark.

at £5000 you could have done a lot worse. Especially if it turns out the movement is 105.012. Just the parts will cover your cost.

I am actually a huge fan of watches like this, that is less expensive more correct than not watches - as long as you know what is right and wrong. Here we have correct pushers, a DO90 bezel, a movement that may or may not be speedmaster, but if it is the parts value is starting to add up - then the bracelet- it’s ok.

Thank you for the detailed reply! Yes I spent some time going over serial number ranges online, some had it just in at the end but most had it just after.

I think that would have been my deal breaker, but without the archives and them not having any information at hand I had to take a gamble on that one unfortunately. I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed!

I came across very few when I was scouring the internet for information, but I like it. It looks quite nice without the professional squeezed in underneath, With the dial and hands patina matching, I can only hope this Speedmaster was serviced at some point and they were both replaced onto this movement.

You’re probably right on that one. I was trying to make out what the first few characters were, but I could only get the numbers at the end.

I’ve definitely kept this from a wearing point of view rather than a collectors. I get to wear a (hopefully) Speedmaster that has had some history and touch ups along the way, without worrying about murdering the value of an all original collectors piece doing something stupid,
