Good afternoon to you all!

I haven't had much sparetime recently checking out Speedys (need to work sometimes...),
but there was one up on an auction yesterday!

An Ed White 65, and it looked promising at first glance, the dial was nice, case and caseback not so beaten up, the pushers and crown looks ok.
Movement had som screwes that were chewed..

And the serial nr showed a production year of 1966! (birthday/year...::facepalm2::..)

The hands must have been replaced during a service?
The bracelet is not correct.
But the bezel...kind of weird and not sure if its a replacement?

The auction house was very helpful with extra pictures and with my questions...
Estimate at 5000-7000 £, plus the premium.

And there were a few bids on the watch when the auction started, and the hammer went down at 5800 £ plus the premium, so in total 7250 £/ 8215 € /8790 $ (might as well do the rates for you guys...:whistling:)

Maybe a bit over my budget (again...), but somebody might be happy now!??
And there are a few disturbing issues with the watch...?

Have a nice week end!

Erhmmm - comments?

I know less than nothing about these old speedmasters, but it looks like the screws holding in the movement were bought at a hardware store.

Much later bracelet, some incorrect movement screws, suspiciously clean decimal bezel, hands don't match lume on the dial, polished case, worn case back... But for me the biggest issue is that I just don't find it that attractive! Unappealing color on the lume plots IMHO.

To me, the bezel is vintage.

Help with identification is here

Looking at the serifs at 1 and 4 I would also vote 'legit'

thanks to @The Master of Speed

Pretty good one with a rare technical bezel for that price . Market is soft and imagine that Speedy without the Auction house premium ....

Lume taint bad; the whole presentation would improve with better hands.

They’re genuine Omega items. The question is only whether they’re modern service items or period. Agree this one looks vintage

Would have bought that in a heartbeat at 8,2k EUR.
Well... you had to put in the next bid..so minimum up 200 £...
And a nice trip to UK!;)

Every bezel for the Speedmaster could be ordered from the Factory. For every model. That made the Pulsometer Speedy Tax deductible for Doctors. And the Decimal one the same for Engineers and Production cycle/output Analysts.
