I mean for £10,000 does it get worse? Seller is describing it as untouched. Check the movement ring(or gasket - not sure what the card board is doing), and the serial Not one, but three different incorrect subdial hands, that takes some doing. Especially without touching it. Check the movement ring: There is some wonderful rubbish about on ebay this month.... happy hunting all!
£10,000? ... It really is such a shame to see that a vintage Omega Speedmaster has been treated in that manner.
I'm just waiting for some bright spark to come along and say they love the 'well worn' look and it is surely worth around €5-6K, blah, blah, blah...
I reckon that it will become a first post by someone new to OF - 'I am looking for information on this watch that was bought new by <insert relative> and has now been passed to me, what are your thoughts on this watch that I have inherited?'
Movement spacer (enlargement ring) appears to be there, so what purpose the cardboard serves is a mystery. Serious water damage in the movement...and I'm sure a lot of other things as well. On the positive side, no paperclips are visible.
I suspect to stop the movement rattling, as there is no dust cover. Forgot to link the original listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-OM...rentrq:d8a1c7f516c0a9cc55ba47c8ffdf4c14|iid:1Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Fortunately, you can still happily 'buy the seller' who is clearly very knowledgeable, friendly and a true poet (judging by the description of this supposedly 10k+ worth item).
It's probably the worst I saw in a while. That movement spacer is the work of a highly skilled craftsman.
I think the movement regulator is being used to indicate the level of watchmaking employed. (Its not pointing to advance)
