Cool picture - it must have been quite impressive. What’s a “space launch” vehicle? Is it just a redundant word for “space vehicle”?

Some vehicles operate in space - the space shuttle orbiter, for instance - but don't have the very powerful rocket stages to launch from ground to orbit on their own.
