Space Compax Winding Crown Operation

I am looking for confirmation on the operation of my SC winding operation .
After unwinding the crown from the case it seems you have to "fiddle" the position of the crown to get it to wind . To my mind it should "spring" into the winding position but it does not so am I correct in assuming a spring is missing ??
If so any chance of a replacement.

Well, these are finicky at best. I am no expert on the inner-workings but own two Space-Compax and two Polerouter Subs (which have similar screw-down system). All of mine work fine but with varying levels of finickiness. I find some require a bit of outward pressure after unscrewing the crown to wind instead of catching to screw down.

These are fantastic vintage watches but require some extra care. Be very careful in screwing down the crown to not overtighten.
