I remember a few years back my boss said what changed him and made him want to do something with his life is he was high on glue in an abandoned building in Bombay one night in his late teens listening to this over and over on his walkman and it gave him the motivation to do something with his life. He's now one of the top guys in a major Fortune 500 so it seemed to work.

Some of us never left the abandoned building.

So many to choose from!

As I sit here wearing this tee shirt, I appreciate your inclusion of the Gurus! Such a great band!

They are so good. One of Australia’s finest. You’ve always had fine taste in music, Al! 😉👍

Speaking of great Aussie bands, here are the Kings of the Mountain back in 1982, when the Oils’s star was ascendant; a former pub rock band about to take on the world.
RIP Rob Hirst. 😭

That reminds me of a story...

Saw the Oils in Toronto in 2017, once Peter finished up his political career and went back to touring. Fast forward to 2019 and we are at an outdoor concert in Port Adelaide, South Australia, where the Gurus were the headliner (along with a bunch of other bands that were unknown to me, but all good).

Two guys sitting on lawn chairs in front of us pounded back more beer than any human should be able to and were still functional. At one point one of them turned and saw that I had a piece of clothing on that had a maple leaf on it, and he asked me if I was from Canada. I confirmed and he asked how I knew these bands, and I said the Gurus made a splash back in the 80's here with the Mars Needs Guitars! album, and I've been a fan ever since. He asked about other Aussie bands I liked, so I mentioned a few including the Oils. He said he actually had been to Canada a couple of years prior and saw them...in Toronto.

We had been at the exact same concert in Toronto...
