Some Travel Watch Questions

I love a good thread revival, but had a few specific travel questions of my own, so thought I’d create a new one.

I travel with 1 watch only, because it’s easier and less opportunity for theft/loss. I also travel with a single strap. So I wonder:

Any opinions on traveling with a stainless steel bracelet vs. rubber strap? Pros/cons? Is one lower key? More or less versatile? Do you even care?

Opinions welcome. And I am just thankful to be able to hit the road again!

And photos of my business Aqua Terra and pleasure SMP:

Great question! And love the close-ups of your Aqua Terra and SMP! I've always preferred the tighter vertical teak decking on the older Aqua Terras vs. the wider horizontal lines on the new models..

The answer to your question depends on the purpose of your travels. If you're strict on one watch and one strap, I'd go with the Aqua Terra on bracelet or leather if the reason you're travelling is for business and you work in a traditional industry (if it's less formal, you can always wear the SMP on bracelet). If it's for pleasure, I'd choose the SMP on rubber (so it's lower key vs. bracelet and waterproof), although the Aqua Terra on rubber can also work. Rubber's less flashy look is advantageous if you're in uncertain environments so consider the surroundings of your destination.

A pub run with the boys, a curry, a visit to a "massage" parlour, and waking up in Bruges?

Ask, and you shall receive.
Eventually!

Still got both watches? Or caught with JimInBruges?

Any travel plans for 2028 and the next revival?

Sold both, and I really miss that AT. Have since repurchased the Bond SMP.

My travel watch has evolved, wore my Speedy on bracelet to India for a recent work trip.

Will check back in 2028 😀

Depends on whether you are travelling for business or pleasure.

Bracelet would go well with business wear, a suit or with a t-shirt and shorts while rubber strap would just look out of place in a formal business environment.

👍
I'll have to dig back through your posts and see if there are any pictures from that India trip.
That's somewhere I doubt I'll ever get to. Queensland is too hot for me really, and I'm not even in the Tropics. 🥵

Strange that you're getting replies now and had none in 2021.
Do you think the World / people / the internet is getting more friendly, listening, empathising and happy to empart heartfelt suggestions?

Or 🤪

Summer travel, rubber strap. Winter travel, stainless steel.
