Today I picked up this, a dream watch of mine, on a local classifieds site. It’s a ‘63 Constellation 168.005 with a 561 in great shape with what I would consider pretty light honest wear and what I am assuming is a service crown (due to it being signed and the wear on it being comparable with the rest of the piece). The watch also has a signed crystal with an underset date magnifying window, something I haven’t seen before. I was too tempted when the listing showed up a week or so ago and then when it took a price cut a few days later I was spurred to jump on it and make an offer. Boy am I glad that I did because the photos didn’t do it justice. Please enjoy some photos and feel free to weigh in!

Stunning Connie. I’ve a few watches with inscriptions, including a 60s 18k Seamaster I wore on my wedding day. While an inscription might detract from a watches monetary value I think it adds to its intrinsic value. May you wear it well.

curiosity, is the crown solid gold?
The original may have been.

Replacements generally are gold capped, not solid.
