Price: $425 net to me Details Condition: It’s hard to imagine a Seiko diver of this vintage in better condition. Though labeled a “diver” many of these timepieces have been irreparably damaged by water ingress. This timepiece, however, is exceedingly clean and is keeping accurate time. Service history is unknown. Case: Stainless steel case is in excellent condition with sharp edges and light wear from use. Distance between lugs is 19mm. Case measures 38mm in diameter. Dial: Beautiful brushed silver dial in excellent condition. Some specs of loose debris under the crystal . Luminous hour markers and handset. Bi-directional bezel. Movement: 6106 calibre, automatic. Crystal: Beautiful original domed acrylic crystal Bracelet: Currently installed with a (Seiko) Pulsar stainless steel bracelet. Accessories: None Notes: The first Seiko diver watch was the 6106-8100. The model was produced from 1967-1969 and came in four dial variations, the black dial being the most common. The years of production coincides with changes in U.S. law which sought to clarify watches labeled as “Water Proof” or “Water Resistant.” In the 6106-81xx line one will see dials marked “RESIST” and “PROOF” depending on the time of production and intended retail destination. The 8109 model was created for the U.S. market and this particular 6106-8109 was manufactured in April 1969. Anyone looking for a versatile vintage timepiece for under $500 should seriously consider the 6106-8109.
