JACK G
·SOLD - 20/02/2020.
In March 2013 I started searching for a transitional matte dial 16800 Sub in virtually unused condition. Even 6 years ago this was an extremely difficult search and it took until November 2015 for me to find this one.
In February 2016 it was personally serviced, but not polished, by Simon Freese whilst he was still with STS. Simon needs no introductions on this forum and it was a movement only service with definitely no polishing!!! The STS invoice and expired guarantee will be supplied.
During the 5 years I have owned this watch it has only been worn outside the house about 6 times - hence it is still in the condition I bought it in.
Check out all the pics very carefully especially the polished sides of the case which had picked up some light scratches prior to my ownership. They have been difficult to show in the pics and whilst I am sure they would polish out easily I have left the case untouched. All the pics are larger than life - click on a pic if you want to view it alone in another window.
For those not familiar with the 16800 reference it was a transitional watch which combined the best elements of both vintage and modern Submariners. With an updated 3035 movement featuring a quick-set date function, sapphire crystal, unidirectional bezel, higher depth indication of 1000ft/300m and of course the matte black dial with tritium lume on the hour plots and hands.
I'm not going to do an ebay style flowery description but will let the pics speak for themselves.
However there is some important information to impart so firstly the numbers..........
Model no. 16800.
Serial no. 8430*** one of the last matte dial 16800s produced in 1984.
Bracelet no. 93150
End piece no. 593
Clasp no. 93150
Clasp date code. J4 for April 1985.
The bracelet has 10 regular and 2 half size links fitted to each side. There are also 2 additional regular spare links supplied so the bracelet will fit the largest wrist. The bracelet is still nice and tight.
The box set includes the outer box, inner box, calendar, Submariner book, Oyster book, green hang tag, red hang tag, Translation book, bezel protector, green plastic wallet and anchor.
I think I've covered everything but please email if you have any questions.

Now reduced to £10750 (GBP). Bank Transfer please unless otherwise agreed.
Onto the pics...........................
