For sale is my 1963 SM300 ref.165024-63 which is in fantastic condition.
This was the first year of this model of Seamaster dive watches and is distinctive because of the gilt writing and the very simple bezel insert.
As far as I know the watch is all original and it looks like it has not seen much wrist time.
The movement is the Cal.552 with a S/No. of 20.3M which is completely correct.
I do not have any service history but it runs strong and keeps good time.
The dial is in beautiful condition and the lume has aged to a lovely colour - you can see from the indices that the shrinkage and application appears correct for this watch.
The hands match colour and it has been suggested that they may have been re-lumed at some point but in view of the condition of the rest of the watch I find that unlikely.
The crystal has the Omega logo in the middle and the crown is the flat-foot version.
The case is in very good overall condition along with the bezel and the insert is one of the best I have seen. For full transparency here are two hairline cracks at 56 and 11 and a couple of marks (which look like flaws rather than damage) but it still has a beautiful gloss finish and the defects are only visible upon very close examination. To the naked eye it looks perfect.
The caseback is similarly in super condition and correctly marked.
The extract of archives confirms that the watch was delivered to France in April 1964 which ties up with the fact that the original seller was the son of the owner who had died within a year of buying the watch and it sat in a drawer for 50+ years.

The price for the watch is £13,500.00 for the head only which would include courier delivery and full insurance worldwide. Payment to be by bank transfer to a UK bank.
